Last week local and state government elections were held in Duval County/Jacksonville, Fl.
The results of the election were very positive for the Republican Party...
3 Black Republicans were elected to various offices, 2 were women. 2 were elected to the city council, 1 to the state house.

It's not just the blacks who are owned by the Rats in Alachua County, it's the entire county (I lived there several years while getting my degree from UF). The voter registration breakdown was something like 70 - 30 Rat when I was there - I'll bet it's even more lopsided now. That's pretty much all you can expect from a county where half the people live in a university town.
If there is one thing that RATS know for sure, it is that if they ever go below 90% of the black vote, the RAT party will cease to exist.

This post does give some very encouraging news, and I really do feel that more and more blacks are slipping the chains of the liberal plantation and at least giving the Republican Party a serious look, instead of just rejecting it out of hand as an instrument of racial hatred.
Having said that, though, I feel I really need to point out that Duval County is a very conservative part of the state of Florida, with lots of active duty and retired military people, quite comparable to the western Panhandle, where "broken glass Republicans" are the rule. Once black Republicans start making serious inroads in places like the People's Demokratik Republik of Palm Beach County and in the other counties in South Florida, where Fidel Castro has better poll numbers than George W. Bush, then Je$$e Jacka$$ and his Rat comrades have serious cause for worry.
Until that happens, we need to look at this as a starting place.

Absolutely, and I'm very optimistic myself. :) I just had not seen my point made anywhere on the thread, and thought it was worth noting for perspective.

This really annoys me when I see this stuff repeated over and over. Jennifer Carroll has run in two previous elections and been defeated, and one could find a whole host of other black Republicans in similar situations. Yet now that they've won, it's because the GOP is suddenly attempting to become inclusive. If the author were really interested in investigating this, he might ask why Jennifer lost twice while running in Dem-heavy districts, then wins in a presumably GOP-leaning district. Sounds like the Republicans are much more inclusive.
She's an MBA and a conservative and a quickly rising star.
I have been impressed with Jennifer Carroll since first hearing of her in 2000, but winning one out of three races I'm not sure would qualify her as a "quickly rising star."
Gov. Carroll does have a nice ring to it. :-)
That's the truth. I've been trying to get involved with the Republican Party here, and I can't even find any representatives to talk to about their activities. The county REpub Party has a non-functional website, to boot.
Sounds like the Nashville Republican Party. :-(
The other race, mentioned here, between Ju'coby Pitman and Glorious "Victorious"Johnson was where the real victory was had. Ju'coby had a solid record of service, turning around the financial mess that was the Clara White Mission, something that many Christians, white and black appreciated. It gave her name recognition and Glorious had an uphill battle and won by the smallest of margins.
Her party's support for the pro-life position made is what made the difference for her locally. Now - onwards and upwards!!
