Last week local and state government elections were held in Duval County/Jacksonville, Fl.

The results of the election were very positive for the Republican Party...

3 Black Republicans were elected to various offices, 2 were women. 2 were elected to the city council, 1 to the state house.

The black population is owned by the Democratic party, to the extent that some candidates from predominantly black parts of Gainesville run unopposed.

It's not just the blacks who are owned by the Rats in Alachua County, it's the entire county (I lived there several years while getting my degree from UF). The voter registration breakdown was something like 70 - 30 Rat when I was there - I'll bet it's even more lopsided now. That's pretty much all you can expect from a county where half the people live in a university town.

Heh, heh, heh. This oughta make Jesse Jackson lose sleep at night. Besides getting up for his turn at the 2 o'clock feeding I mean.

If there is one thing that RATS know for sure, it is that if they ever go below 90% of the black vote, the RAT party will cease to exist.

Hark! Do I hear faint strains of "Happy Days Are Here Again"?

Hark! Do I hear faint strains of "Happy Days Are Here Again"?

This post does give some very encouraging news, and I really do feel that more and more blacks are slipping the chains of the liberal plantation and at least giving the Republican Party a serious look, instead of just rejecting it out of hand as an instrument of racial hatred.

Having said that, though, I feel I really need to point out that Duval County is a very conservative part of the state of Florida, with lots of active duty and retired military people, quite comparable to the western Panhandle, where "broken glass Republicans" are the rule. Once black Republicans start making serious inroads in places like the People's Demokratik Republik of Palm Beach County and in the other counties in South Florida, where Fidel Castro has better poll numbers than George W. Bush, then Je$$e Jacka$$ and his Rat comrades have serious cause for worry.

Until that happens, we need to look at this as a starting place.

As one of the few freepers who has ever gotten a hug and kiss from our new representative, she looks much more like the former pictures than the one in uniform. I know, sexist remark, but she is sharp.

She brought a bunch of young folk to the navy school I work at, they all flew the S-3 Sim, and the chaperones were all vets, except for the Master Gunny who was getting ready for retirement.

I'm kinda glad Corrine beat her. We still have a Democrat congressperson that we can point to and laugh at.

Absolutely, and I'm very optimistic myself. :) I just had not seen my point made anywhere on the thread, and thought it was worth noting for perspective.

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

Good. Maybe those disinfranchised Florida voters will learn to mark their ballots Republican in '04.

Bravo Zulu!!!!

...Now if we could only repeat this out here in the People's Republic of Kalifornia. One city at a time, one county at a time, one state at a time...we will finally arrive.

They also say the Republican Party is attempting to be more inclusive and fielded more attractive conservative black candidates who represent a diversity needed to build a base among both black and white supporters.

This really annoys me when I see this stuff repeated over and over. Jennifer Carroll has run in two previous elections and been defeated, and one could find a whole host of other black Republicans in similar situations. Yet now that they've won, it's because the GOP is suddenly attempting to become inclusive. If the author were really interested in investigating this, he might ask why Jennifer lost twice while running in Dem-heavy districts, then wins in a presumably GOP-leaning district. Sounds like the Republicans are much more inclusive.

She's an MBA and a conservative and a quickly rising star.

I have been impressed with Jennifer Carroll since first hearing of her in 2000, but winning one out of three races I'm not sure would qualify her as a "quickly rising star."

Go to her website www.friendsofjennifercarroll.com and you can see her endorsements and photos pages. Powerbrokers have noticed her.

Jeb appointed her as Executive Director of Florida
Department of Veterans’ Affairs and President George W. Bush appointed her to “The White House Presidential Scholar’s Commission.”

Oh, she's definitely got some friends in high places. We'll see if it translates to anything. But I'm sure she'll be a fine state rep for Florida no matter what.

Gov. Carroll does have a nice ring to it. :-)

That's the truth. I've been trying to get involved with the Republican Party here, and I can't even find any representatives to talk to about their activities. The county REpub Party has a non-functional website, to boot.

Sounds like the Nashville Republican Party. :-(

I don't know how I managed to miss this when it was posted earlier this week. I am glad to see Jennifer Carroll win, I am a long time supporter of hers-- but I think her opponent, Linda Sparks, was no slacker when it comes to conservatism.

The other race, mentioned here, between Ju'coby Pitman and Glorious "Victorious"Johnson was where the real victory was had. Ju'coby had a solid record of service, turning around the financial mess that was the Clara White Mission, something that many Christians, white and black appreciated. It gave her name recognition and Glorious had an uphill battle and won by the smallest of margins.

Her party's support for the pro-life position made is what made the difference for her locally. Now - onwards and upwards!!
