A Lesson in Sophistry — the Lies That Kill a Person
e3mil.com ^ | 4/22/03 | Judie Brown

The Planned Parenthood Federation of America is widely known for many things, and widely criticized because of their consistent support and advocacy of killing human beings by abortion. In addition, this organization has been most influential in guaranteeing that parental rights are non-existent in matters involving human sexuality and minor children.

But perhaps their most egregious fault — albeit one that is rarely noted — is their propensity to deceive the public by reinventing scientific facts to suit their deadly agenda.

The most recent example of this deluded dabbling is found in comments from Dr. Vanessa Cullins on the Planned Parenthood web site. Cullins is described as the vice president for medical affairs of Planned Parenthood.

The following question, "How soon after sex can pregnancy be detected?" is answered in part by Cullins as follows: "Despite what some people think, pregnancy doesn’t start the day a couple has intercourse. It can take up to seven days after sex for the sperm and egg to join. Then, it can take up to eight days, or more, for the fertilized egg to bury itself in the lining of the uterus. Pregnancy begins when this happens."

Cullins uses the phrase "fertilized egg" intentionally. By doing so, she will lead her readers to think that fertilization is nothing more than egg production, much the same as a rooster and hen might produce an egg. However, with human beings, we're not talking about "eggs" but people of our own kind. When the human sperm unites with the human (ovum) a human being is produced. This human being at this stage of life may be described as a zygote or an embryo, but not a "fertilized egg."

Is Anyone There at Fertilization?

Clearly, Cullins wants her readers to get the idea that at fertilization, there's really no one there! She reinforces that concept when she tells her readers that pregnancy does not occur until after the embryo has implanted herself in her mother’s womb. Again, this is totally wrong, and designed to create a false sense of assurance for the woman who may fear she is pregnant, or the man who may fear that he has gotten a woman pregnant.

So what’s the big deal? Well, if one reads the full text of Cullins' answer, she advocates the use of morning-after pills as the solution to a fear of pregnancy. In doing so, Cullins has taken a position that requires her to launch a propaganda campaign in order to justify her "prescription."

The truth is that pregnancy begins when fertilization occurs. The act of fertilization immediately presents the mother with her child, and though that child may be infinitesimally small, she is still a person who deserves to be respected, loved and welcomed rather than being wiped out by a strong chemical combination of pills — which is precisely what the morning-after pill regimen will do to this new human being.

Planned Parenthood Has Nothing to Do with Parenting

Planned Parenthood employs such tactics in order to assuage concern, create a client base for their birth control and abortion business, and pursue a political agenda that has nothing to do with parenthood. This agenda most certainly embraces the intentional, planned destruction of persons before birth — persons they have defined as "unwanted" or "unplanned."

It is my observation that, down through the years, Planned Parenthood Federation of America has been instrumental in causing the deaths of more human beings than both of the 20th century's world wars. They will deny it, accuse people like me of being zealots, and propagandize the public at large so that their coffers will continue to be filled to the brim with U.S. taxpayer dollars. After all, they will speciously explain to you, every American has a right to choose.

But they fail to finish that sentence by making it clear that in their line of work, the choice they strive to protect always results in the death of a human being. Their very existence is based on specious subterfuge and must be preserved by continued propaganda, regardless of the cost involved including death and destruction. Be forewarned, therefore, that when dealing with fallacious reasoning, the price may be higher than what you are willing to pay.

A life inherently begs to be kept alive.

If women care not to have little children or feotuses beg them to be kept alive, women themselves will be at the bottom of the food chain, courtesy of Planned Parenthood. End of story.

Hey Nick,

No, I caught the last 10-20 seconds then scrambled to record the repeat (which never happened!) I even did a vanity post to alert everyone about the Cavuto show on Fox News then had to eat crow when the replay show was bumped.

Is theiir a transcript at http://www.all.org? It might be worth posting!

I did find this:

A person's a person, no matter how small;

If Dr. Seuss gets it, why doesn't NOW?

Scott Peterson is facing double murder charges — one for killing his wife, Laci Peterson, and the second for murdering his preborn son, Connor. "The murder of Laci and Connor Peterson is a terrible tragedy," said Judie Brown, president of American Life League. "The fact that the accused killer now faces charges is reassuring news to Laci's family — and most Americans — because justice is being served; but pro-abortion extremists at the National Organization for Women and other such groups are quaking in their comfortable shoes because they fear the truth," she said.

"It is astonishing that these abortion-worshiping baby-phobes are refusing to admit a simple truth, that Connor Peterson was a real, living human being whose life was ended by violence," continued Brown. "These so-called women's rights groups, who insist that the gruesome murder of Laci Peterson is a crime, refuse to acknowledge that — even under these heinous circumstances — Connor Peterson's right to life was also violated. All of this is out of a fear that the average American may begin to equate Connor's murder and the act of abortion as the same thing. Here's a news flash for NOW — they already do!"

Brown said pro-abortion forces have only pulled away from their initial comments that Scott Peterson should not be charged with a second count of murder for fear that the abortion industry's big lie would be exposed. "They realize that it would be the height of illogic to say that because Connor was 'wanted,' the act against him was the murder of a human being; but had he not been 'wanted,' the act would have been the termination of a non-human clump of cells. The same baby would be quite dead in either instance," she said, "but extreme abortion proponents know they cannot call for punishment for Connor's murderer without exposing their own hypocrisy."

Planned Parenthood Has Nothing to Do with Parenting

----------------------

Har! A more concise truth has never been spoken. Off hand I can think of nothing Planned Parenthood has done to improve human relationships since I have become acquainted with the organization. What the program is about is primarily emotionally sterile and psychopathic people engaging in wind-up-toy sex who don't want each others kids.

In modern Embryology textbooks, you will discover that the first principle of the Science of Embryology is that ‘every individual life is a continuum of unbroken processes whereby an individual alive organism is expressing its life, and that continuum has a beginning, a starting point that is that individual’s conception.’

Manipulations such as in vitro fertilization, somatic cell nuclear transfer (cloning), embryonic stem cell research, amniocentesis, and tests for genetic anomalies like Downs Syndrome, all are based upon this ‘first principle’ of Embryology. For these processes to have meaning, first the scientists and technicians must hold that the processes are dealing with an already alive individual’s characteristics, else the tests would be too non-specific to form medical assumptions regarding the alive individual organism tested.

We are an individual human being in the body first at conception and remain an individual human being in the body until death, artificially or naturally arrived at along the continuum that is an individual human lifetime in the body begun at conception.

When the human sperm unites with the human (ovum) a human being is produced.

Absolutely correct.

The truth is that pregnancy begins when fertilization occurs.

So if the newly conceived person fails to implant (for natural or unnatural reasons) the mother was pregnant while the unimplanted zygote was in her uterus and becomes unpregnant once it leaves? Rather than getting bogged down in semantics over the meaning of "pregnancy," we should stick to the point: implantation is not the issue, the issue is the personhood of the zygote from the time of conception, and his right to care from his parents.
