APRIL 21--Scott Peterson was charged today with two counts of premeditated murder in connection with the slaying last December of his wife Laci and the Modesto, California couple's unborn son. The below criminal complaint, filed today in Stanislaus County Superior Court, alleges that Peterson, a 30-year-old former fertilizer salesman, acted "intentionally, deliberately and with premeditation" in killing his pregnant wife. Since the charges include a special circumstances provision, prosecutors could seek the death penalty. According to another court filing, the "location of offense" is listed as the Peterson's Covena Avenue home, which has twice been searched by police, most recently in mid-February. Laci, 27, was eight months pregnant when she was reported missing on Christmas Eve.

The parents are claiming that the very fact that he told the police where he was fishing and the body happens to be found there is proof for them apparently that he didn't do it, that he was framed. Did they consider the fact that maybe he had enough sense that someone might see his vehicle and may wind up giving up his location anyway? That was pretty risky, driving 80 miles though. I wonder about that. Did he normally fish there or something and that was the only plausible place for him to CLAIM he was fishing at? And the parents had also claimed that possibly Laci had been preyed upon since she was pregnant, I don't know much about their theory on that but I guess it would be to take the baby. That could have been a possibility until both bodies showed up. And if there were a serial killer in the Modesto area, I wonder why the news hasn't mentioned it...maybe they are also framing their precious son.

Don't think Kristin Smart ever dated Scott. They were both enrolled at Cal. Polytechnical State University at the same time, which is the only connection so far.

Through Google, looks like they had a likely suspect, but he was never arrested. He plead the fifth, and LE never had evidence to convict.
