Sandy Duncan Speaks Out (Doesn't 'respect' Pres. Bush, Dubya not 'really smart' or 'globally aware')
MSNBC ^ | April 1, 2003 | Jeanette Walls

The Dixie Chicks aren't the only Texas natives bashing President George W. Bush.

Sandy Duncan who is performing in South Carolina, told a local paper that she questioned the decision to go to war, and wishes that rather than President Bush, the United States had a leader who was 'globally aware' and 'really smart.'

'I just wish men would quit thinking they could just duke it out with each other,' the native of Henderson, Texas, told the Times and Democrat.

'I don't have all of the facts, and who knows what's really the truth, but I really don't respect [President Bush's] way of dealing with this situation.

It would be great to have someone really, really smart in that office, and someone who is globally aware.'

Other than Triscuit or Wheat Thin commercials or whatever it was she would munch on?

Don't forget all of the Grade-B or Grade-C movies that Walt Disney Studios came out with shortly after Walt's death. Rudderless without Walt and desperate to cash in on the Disney name, who could forget Sandy's memorable performances in "The $1,000,000 Duck" and "The Cat From Outer Space"?

What the...?? When actors first get their SAG cards, do they have to undergo a brainectomy, or what??

If Sankie Duncan makes an anti -war/anti Bush comment in the community theatre woods of South Carolina, does anyone hear it?

life would be more interesting if stupid words/actions actually caused pain.

Well, for Rachel Corrie they did.

What's with this?

I think it shows how low the media has sunk. Nobody cares what Sandy Duncan thinks, but some reporter asks her what she thinks, prints her response; it gets picked up on MSNBC and suddenly its all over the airwaves.

Her views may be misguided, but this doesn't sound like a case of a "celebrity" inundating the media with anti-American views.

Of course, she could have said no comment.

Hmmmm... on broadway and in touring companies...First it was (1950 Broadway-early 1960's(TV)) Mary Martin (mother of Larry Hagman), Then came Sandy Duncan (1979-1980'S, then gymnast Cathy Rigby (1990'S).

Apparently, Lily Tomlin, Bea Arthur, Olympia Dukakis, Eve Plumb, Ruth Buzzy, Tina Yothers , and Chastity Bono were unavailable to offer foreign policy advice, so they settled on Sandy Duncan. Maybe we can find out what Avril Lavigne and Alyssa Milano think about Middle East strategy. It's comforting to know democracy and civilization are in such good hands.

Which is the last time you ever saw an actor or actress use his real name on television, as near as I can tell.

I take it you don't watch "The Bernie Mack Show".

Would someone please inform Ms. Duncan that the customer on table 18 needs more ice tea and that the salad bar is out of diet ranch dressing? Oh, and soup of the day is now chicken noodle.

:-) "This week on the Love Boat, Valerie Bertinelli finds a true soulmate with David Soul. Don Rickles guest stars as a crusty comedian dealing with inner turmoil. And Barbi Benton makes a very special guest appearance as 'Blonde Bimbo in a Bikini #4".

Castigate Duncan for her silly, misguided views, but don't lump her in with the Sarandons and Girafallos just yet. She just answered an interviewers question.

Blame the media for trying to create another mini-maelstrom.
