People in the News:
Kidman Steering Clear of Scientology
Well, well. It seems that along with divorcing Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman also divorced the Church of Scientology. MSN.com reports that church members haven't seen the Oscar winning mama in quite some time.
'Actually, when I knew Nicole she seemed to think that there was nothing better than Scientology,' said Kelly Preston wife of John Travolta. The couple is among the higher profile Hollywood Scientologists.
But since her 2001 split from Cruise, who is still rather active in the church, Nicole doesn't even hang out with other Scientolgists, much less participate.

Big shocker, she wants the kids to have a normal childhood.

Back when Cruise and Kidman broke up, there were reports that Kidman was a devout Catholic and was not happy about the children being raised in Scientology.

I think it's just the rank and file who believe the Engram bullcrap. From what I can tell, the celebs get special facilities and basically being a Scientologist means they always have a pad in every large city for their drunken orgies.

I heard the same thing as well..

Travolta, that guy who was made famous by a lousy disco movie, by luck? The guy who seems to get worse and worse in his movies? I'd say he hit the lottery.

I wouldn't be surprised if something "controversial" or nasty about Kidman comes out in the next few months. The Scientologist cult has a mean streak that rears itself when a member strays. If she publicly denounces them, or possibly just refuses to acknowledge them, they'll put their goons to work.

And all of Travolta's new movies have been bombs so he is sending his wife Kelly Preston out making the rounds to do films again.

I'm not sure "devout" is the right word, but I did see reports that her RC upbringing was haunting her about her Scientology involvement.

Their split is all the proof in the world that Scientology is a nutbag "religion" filled with whackos. When given the choice between banging Kidman and meditation the sane choice is picking up some more massage oil on the way home.

Recently, I was in LA on business, and spent an evening on Hollywood Blvd for dinner, etc. I had not seen this before, but there is a giant...and I mean giant... storefront/building for Scientology 'surveys' or something similar. The front of the building is mostly a large window, and a passer-by can see a room full of people in a brightly lit room filling out papers. It kind of freaked me out a little bit.

Kidman's career has blossomed since she ditched Tom.
Anyway, if scientology was the answer, then Travolta and Cruz should have Oscar nominations every year and a closet full of 'em.
It isn't and they don't.
To: discostu
The interesting thing about Travolta is that he bilked a bunch of foriegn investors to make that all time scientology movie bomb 'Battlefield Earth' but still he commands 10 million a picture to keep doing box office duds..

Their lawyers are often the least of your worries. They have been caught breaking into homes and offices of anyone who dares to write a less than glowing piece on Scientology.
I read a first-hand account of a girl who joined and decided to work for them full time. In exchange for ridiculous amounts of work and lousy room and board she had to sign a 1,000,000 year contract. Yes, 1,000,000 years.
