Halle Berry says she thinks she's 'ugly'

Halle Berry solidified her place as one of the world's sexiest women with her role as Bond girl Jinx in "Die Another Day."
But the Oscar-winning actress (Monster's Ball) says she still doesn't see herself as a beautiful star.
"To be totally honest, most of the time I think I'm ugly," she told the German magazine Journal fur die Frau. "I see myself without makeup every morning and that's why I don't have illusions anymore. I certainly don't feel like a big star."
Berry added that being black still hinders her progress in Hollywood.
"For many film studios and directors skin color remains a problem. They don't believe that the audience will accept a black actor in the main role. These narrow-minded people underestimate the public and prevent advancement in the industry."
Berry's next film will be "X-2," the sequel to "X-Men" slated for a May 2 release.

Picard: "Riker! In my ready room, NOW!!!"
(Riker follows Picard into his ready room. Picard makes a fist and slams the switch, closing the door behind them)
Picard: "Did you &#$@ her? I specifically ordered you NOT to &#$@ her! What do I have to do, throw you in the brig every time we go to a planet?"
(Sorry, couldn't resist. You have to admit, it's a recurring theme in ST:TNG)

Block out her face if you must... then you will understand the appeal. I'm relieved that at least some people agree about her face--it's been frightening to think that so many people can have such bad taste and/or have their vision altered by a kind of mass-hysteria.
(Men and women are endowed by evolution to see as beautiful what they believe the majority sees as beautiful--therefore, mating with such a one will increase the chances that their children will have appeal to future generations, and so never lack for an opportunity to pass the family genes along.)
As for the rest of her, not my type either--but at least I can understand how some men might find her body attractive.
But from head-to-toe, not my type at all. Yuck.

Makeup and airbrushing does wonders.

I agree that today's female movie stars do not at all compare to the glamorous screen starlets of yesteryear (30s, 40s). They are hardly in the same league.

Oh, I forgot about Betty Paige. She was
cute (but it looked stupid when she would pose sucking-in her gut all the time--so strained looking, and there was no need for it--but that was how they posed in her day).
But as for the real goddess--nope, sorry, my secret. Her best photo is buried deep in the recesses of a vast online archive--and it's my secret for now.
One day, maybe I'll post it--but on a thread more appropriate.

Agree. Hollywood is a shallow place filled with shallow people.

Her face is not pretty.

Oh, and the one I'm thinking of was old enough to be Betty's grandmother--even great grandmother!

What happened to beautiful women smiling instead of scowling? This isn't just looking serious. This is looking sour.

I agree that today's female movie stars do not at all compare to the glamorous screen starlets of yesteryear (30s, 40s). Even the stars of campy comedies from the 60's - Tina Louise (Gilligan's Island), Barbara Eden (I Dream of Genie), Eva Gabor (Green Acres), etc. - are much prettier than today's so-called starlets, imo.
To: fatima
It used to be prettier, but she's starting to age. I wonder if she'll eventually go totally over the deep end like Melanie Griffith...

I am simply amazed to see anyone, let alone this MANY people, could say they do not think Halle Berry is pretty. Emotionally ugly, perhaps - but she is undoubtedly one of the most physically beautiful women in the world. Absolutely stunning.
Nuttier than a fruitcake, but stunning nevertheless.

Exactly. I knew you would understand. Cheers. I am.

Halle Berry is nice looking, but there are prettier. Isn't there always someone prettier? Mass hysteria over Halle Berry I will agree. However, I hate spound jealous and hating so you know... I mean bless her heart. She's a millionaire.
As for what people find attractive, well who knows? Women don't dress anymore. How old are you? Not trying to mind your business. My father met my mom when women started dressin down thanks to the hippie and casual friday movement. She dressed like Grace Kelly. Older men seem to have a taste for a more classic look apparently.
Another name that comes to mind is Grable.
