There should have been a less confrontational way of handling the situation. We would all be happy to hear about some realistic alternatives, but with Vernon Wayne Howell I don't believe or think there was ANY possible way he was going back into the pokey ...

I'm thinking up new mottos now:
They'll take my M1A1 Abrams when they pull my smoking, charred corpse out of its blackened turret
I can walk into any bank with a machine gun and everybody had better just get over it - the Constimatooshkun says so
They'll take my Stinger SAM from me when they can pry it from my cold dead fingers in the airport parking lot

You are babbling nonsense, my boy.
I advocate & defend the constitutional rule of law.
Those who defend Waco do not.

I vaguely remember the biting now, and I did think it somehow involved a traffic situation. Thanks, I may have to read up on that.

We would all be happy to hear about some realistic alternatives, but with Vernon Wayne Howell I don't believe or think there was ANY possible way he was going back into the pokey ...I had heard, and perhaps there is someone who could verify this, that Koresh regularly left the compound to go shopping. This was before he was put under siege, of course. Couldn't he have been lured off-site to buy some grenade launchers?
To: tpaine
I advocate & defend the constitutional rule of law.The 'thin' veil (or is it a burka now?) under which you would claim 'to operate' - like this perp, I'm sure, who bit a state trooper.

I'm missing something. There's a problem here? I say let them self jail themselves as long as they want.I'm with you...there is always plenty of time to die. More importantly, it is a local issue and if this is the way the local elected official chooses to handle it, fine. If the locals don't like it, vote him out next election. Sounds like he might still be out there guarding the detainees.
To: Fifth Business
If he got a good rate, he'd surely have gone to buy them.
Of course, then again, the "true believers" here would insist on the Constimatooshkinal right of everyone to own a grenade launcher.

Laws are against the law! And non-Caucasians count as only 3/5ths of a person for Census purposes.

No prob. (And I have a "fiber" problem as well these days - nothing a good draught of Metamucil won't cure).

Did the custody issues ever get resolved? My recollection from several years ago was that the children's father was awarded custody but the wife was hiding out on her father's compound and the sheriff wouldn't enforce the court orders.
