Cash is KING. Hit em where it hurts.

I agree. Other personalities are watching what happens to the Chickie Dicks career, this could prove to be pivotol in Hollywierd's cramming their un-informed opinions down the public's throat.

I am from Texas. Fat Nat can say what she wants. We can also say what we want to her. See how easy this is !

Yes, and at no point did I suggest that we don't have the right to speak out. See how easy reading comprehension is?

My point, the one that people seem to be making an effort to not get, is that this does no real good that simply not buying their material doesn't already do. It's nothing but a feel-good measure, something I guess liberals don't have a monopoly on.

As the tour’s name implies, Lipton has signed on as title sponsor. Look for the Dixie Chicks to star in a Lipton Iced Tea television commercial spot starting in mid-May and to be featured in store displays promoting Lipton Tea’s national contest wherein consumers check inside their package of Lipton Tea for chance to win a VIP event with the Chicks as well as Chicks CDs, tour jackets and t-shirts. In addition, Lipton Iced Tea and Lipton Tea products from Unilever will be sampled at all the U.S. Dixie Chicks dates. The Dixie Chicks partnership was brokered on behalf of Lipton by Aaron Walton Entertainment.

"Much like the Dixie Chicks are redefining the traditional conventions of country music, we're going to redefine tea and serve it up in a refreshing new way that's full of energy," said Virginia Blake West, marketing director, Pepsi-Lipton Tea Partnership. "We couldn't have found a more exciting association for our brand than with the Dixie Chicks."

I am sorry, but you have to understand, this idiot not only slammed our Prez AND his home state (which just happens to be hers) OVERSEAS

Uh, no. She was only bashing Bush. If I say I'm embarassed that Clinton is America's president, I'm not necessarily bashing America. If anything, it's a sign that I'm upset at how the home I love has been soiled.

, but she also said the more people are upset about it, the happier she is. (If you wish, I can find the direct quote.)

Please do, if you can.

As has been said time and time again, nobody here is against her right to say what she wants.

And I never made such an accusation.

But she needs to understand there are consquences and repercussions for the things she says, just as they are for the things we say, whether in the real world or here at FR.

Yes. So why not just make the "repurcussions" economic as others have suggested? Again (and again, and again...), what good does taking half a day out of your life, going to a concert and waving a picket sign do that simply not buying their material won't do? Do you really have no better battles to wage than this?

In case you have been living in a cave, their album sales have dropped 42% since they blasted President Bush.

PERHAPS the purpose of picketing is to persuade others not to buy their records. Afterall, if the media hadn't latched onto the Dicksie Chicks comment and spread the word around they would have gotten away with it.

And in case you have, I've said several times on this thread that an economic boycott is a far more effective way to make your point than what people are suggesting here.

I was looking for that. Her later statements make me tend to believe that her "apology" was pure Sony/Lipton BS.

"Maines, however, has reacted more flippantly to the situation, according to reports. The singer said, "The more flack I get for it, the prouder I am." She was also quick to point out that in her hometown of Lubbock, Texas, "only six people showed up," for a public Chicks CD-smashing protest."

Your second statement proves my point: you can spread the word on something without looking like a peace protestors with cardboard signs and silly slogans.

People, please, stop knee-jerking for just one second and listen to the point I'm making. There is an entire world of battles to fight, and you're obsessing over a trio of female signers who are not in any way considered to be political experts by anyone, even those who agree with their views. They're influence in the political world is squat, and you're sending in the tanks after them. If your purpose is to feel good about what a great activist you are, then I suppose you can conquer this molehill, raise your flag, and then pat yourself on the back for a job well done.

As far as I'm concerned, this one is done, and all this is doing at this point is turning them in martyrs. There are other more important battles, people: lots of them. Our point has been made, and our energies are now needed elsewhere.

And with that, I'm done.

Again I will say that the purpose of the picketing is to enlighten other misguided souls to the wrongdoing of the Dixie Chicks.

You keep saying that this is basically a waste of time. Why don't you answer this question: What is the purpose of YOUR website We Won't Pay and how much time did you spend on it? Probably more than half a day!

I've said several times on this thread that an economic boycott is a far more effective way to make your point than what people are suggesting here.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that protests at concerts were designed to do any of the following:

1) Legitimately borrow both the limelight that the Dixie Chicks have used to get their message across, and the current media attention on the issue.

2) Educate others as to why people feel strongly about the statements of the Dixie Chicks.

3) Explain clearly why there is a boycott, and enforce the point that it has made - otherwise a drop in sales could easily be passed-off for any one of a number of reasons, which would otherwise make a boycott without an explanation a useless waste of time.

In other words boycott must be supported with protests or other like means. BTW – I can vouch for the interview they conducted in New Zealand – they skirted around an apology in a way that suggested that they wanted to have it both ways.

How do you think this economic boycott got started, by people staying home and sitting on their hands? Would you have told people they were wasting their time calling radio stations?

Unlike many celebs, she has appoligized several times for it and certainly seems to regret the statement

Baloney. She apologized then turned around and took it back. She only apologized to save her own miserable skin. I hope Americans will not forget their treasonous behavior. The fact that the coward made the statement overseas to humiliate this nation speaks volumes.

Where ya been, pupdog? They recanted that apology and they did it in an arrogant fashion. They will pay for their duplicitous actions.
