Does California recognize same-sex marriage? Irrevelvant. Governments don't make you married, they confer special status on people depending upon their living arrangements.
If not, then what they're having is not a wedding and,
It's not a wedding no matter whether or not the government approves. If they passed a law tomorrow sanctioning same sex unions, these people would still not be having a real wedding.
most certainly, not a marriage.
Correct, most certainly not. Promises before God make someone married, not governments. God does not sanction sin.

I'm not sure about CA, but here is news from TX:
(Houston Chronicle) Senate passes bill to ban recognition of gay unions AUSTIN -- The Senate gave final approval Tuesday to a bill that bans Texas from recognizing same-sex civil unions or marriages.
Texas currently bans same-sex marriages. The bill by Sen. Jeff Wentworth, R-San Antonio, would prevent the state from recognizing a civil union entered into by people of the same sex in other states.
The proposal, which had been tentatively approved by the Senate on Monday, now will be considered by the House.
Senate opponents contended the legislation is unnecessary and would encourage discrimination against gay and lesbian couples.
But Wentworth said Senate Bill 7 is essential to clarify existing law, which limits the issuance of marriage licenses to people of the opposite sex but says nothing specifically about other "civil unions."
Thirty-six other states have passed similar laws, he said. Vermont is the only state to recognize civil unions of same-sex couples, but Wentworth said Texas could be forced under the U.S. Constitution to recognize unions sanctioned in Vermont unless the Legislature enacts his bill.
The bill does include a provision that would let gays and lesbians continue receiving such things as life insurance proceeds and property rights from their partners "without the existence of any legally recognized familial relationship."

Ever heard of Elizabeth Taylor? Celebrities in general seem to be prone to the multiple serial marriages syndrome. It garners more publicity than just announcements of "dating". J-Lo's ex-husband's public advice to her new husband was illustrative of how serious these types take marriage. J-Lo will probably top Liz Taylor's record. Maybe Cher's too, who holds the current celebrity record for marital briefneess at 9 days with Gregg Allman.

Wentworth said Texas could be forced under the U.S. Constitution to recognize unions sanctioned in Vermont unless the Legislature enacts his bill. If that's the best he can do, he's wrong. Texas could be forced to recognize the unions under the Constitution regardless, bill, law, or Texas Constitutional amendment.

I don't know any studies, but I'll bet you that actually homosexuals who do life ceremonies, or whatever you call it, do stay together longer. I know quite a few.

The Associated Press is showing their bias again....
How come when "ordinary" gay couples get "married" they never cover it? Huh?

Haaa! I guess the dress code is the same all over the country. We just had the "Dinah Shore Nabisco Open" out here (biggest thing on the west coast lesbian 'circuit') and it looked like Paul Bunyan country...
