Guess it's better to stand on priciple qnd lose your job than to give up a little and retain your job, benefits and your lifestyle.

Just remember to stay in the right hand lane.... remember the left lane is called the passing lane for a reason...

I forget which company just built the small jet that holds about 8 passengers.
This where a lot of people are going to go. They are chartering these planes to fly like from San Francisco to the Bend Or area for skiers, fly fisher or Golfers. In stead of a hassle to get to the airport, the hassle at both airport, people are chartering these small planes. Then they go to a small airport, walk on board, take off and land without a hassle at their destination. The plane then takes people back or to another desination. If a week or a few days, the skiers, fly fishers or Golfers fly back to the Bay area.
This will be one trend.

When Carty took over, he inherited a huge surplus which he pissed off rather quickly against former CEO Cradell's warning. Most folks don't have a clue what a bunch of idiots this management team has been. Most of those being cut loose are from TWA, which was in bankruptcy when AA bought it.
IOW, Carty and Co. gave the TWA employees another 24 months of work.
Crandell spent money like a drunken sailor, too.
Also, no airline in modern history has EVER had a "huge surplus."

It's called "Jet Blue," and I believe they are publicly traded, but I'm not 100% sure. You can probably find out here:
http://www.jetblue.com It's a wonderful airline and an even better business model. They are based in NYC and started up within the last 3 years, IIRC.

"Man! Those $ 250,000/year, 10 day a month flying jobs are getting harder and harder to find!"
To: Phantom Lord
Take note. Non unionized airlines are doing very well financially. What airlines are non-union? Southwest is union, Jet Blue is union. all major airlines are union...

Who was responsible for airline security before 9-11.Looking at the airline industry through post-9/11 glasses is like punishing your kid for touching the stove because he didn't know it was hot.
Nobody envisioned Arabs with box cutters highjacking planes to fly them into buildings, least of all United and American management.

"You are not the only one to buy a new RV because of the hassle with airlines. When gasoline drops back below $1.50 per gallon with no more Iraqi oil going to France, Germany, and Syria, more people will buy them." I know. Right after I bought this one, NBC Nightly did a piece on a guy and his wife who bought a 40-footer (ours is a 35) and they go all over the country in it, take their dogs, he visits companies whom he consults, heck of a deal.
A lot of people still probably think of an RV as "trailer-park" stuff, but a true motorhome is REALLY nice. Ours has a huge slideout, so parked, we have a nice large living room with satellite TV, full kitchen, full bath, sleeping for 6, and literally all the comforts of home. Then, when it's time to travel, we just pull in the slideout room and off we go.

Bad news for a lot of my friends in Dallas/Ft. Worth. Praying for the best.

Our priests flew back last year to the WTC on a special project. The fare was fair, and they loved the service, the flight and the plane.

Who is more responsible for 9/11, the CEO's of airlines or the politicians that allow 11 million illegals to rome our countryside, CEO's or the politicians that allowed know terrorists into this country. Could you state for me the FAA rule that was violated by the screeners hired by AA and UAL? Knives and box cutters were legal. Think before you post.

So if you partially blame the airlines for 9/11, then I take it that you also partially blame the military for the looting that took place at that Baghdad museum?
Good to see someone has some common sense here. Thanks.

"Just remember to stay in the right hand lane.... remember the left lane is called the passing lane for a reason..." I pass plenty of people in our motorhome. It's not some puny underpowered old city bus. We cruise 65-70 most of the time. Other than that, we stay right, or in the center if 3 lanes each side.
BTW, gas is back in the $1.40's now here in Nashville.

I flew Southwest Airlines for the first time last month. It was a very pleasurable experienceYou have got to be kidding. Southwest is only pleasurable if you like riding in a cattle car. Also, they board by the order you arrive, not by loading from the back of the plane first. So you get traffic jams in the aisle.

"I've always believed it was a female thing. They are incapable of seeing the larger institutional issues and see theings only in terms of how they will effect MaryJane."
Nice sweeping generalization. Care to revise your statement, or would you prefer to just look like a chauvinist jerk to all the smart, conservative, right-thinking women on FR?

The nice new ones like yours with the slideouts are great.
On the coastal 101 in California and Oregon, there are some excellent parks for people to stay in.
We see people stopped by the ocean in their RVs on 101 having breakfast, a coffee break, lunch, dinner or just to stop and relax at home with a great view of the ocean.
People with pets and kids love their Rvs.
