You've got to be kidding? It's all over the financial news? You mean CNNfn might be lying again, lol?

"He will reduce or eliminate most claims."

That should read "he or she".

IMO, Don Carty could care less about anyone, but himself.

You're stupid. Do you know him?

I do, and he agonizes over the position his airline is in.

Did you hate Bob Crandall (who built American into the giant it is) too?

Or do you just hate management generally?

The unions are famous for illegal elections. Maybe they will have their own recount and say that the attendants voted for the pay cuts.

Who knows? Maybe the union is freaking out. Or maybe there was something hinky about the voting.

And the two airlines partially responsible for 9-11 will pay their dues finally.

Another galactically idiotic statement.

This is bogus. They would not halt trading in the stock unless it were true. Chapter 11 by Thursday, no doubt about it.

Too many pansies out there scared to fly. I guess they sit on their fat butts and send their ill-informed opinions to FR instead.

I am sorry about your wife's current job insecurity; but the only reason that my family has decided to avoid flying is because of the new TSA restrictions that treat us like cattle. Now I only fly for business, and when I do I take as little as possible on to the plane. My wife and I do not want to be hassled by TSA security morons when we are on a family vacation. Being scared has nothing to do with it. It’s about standing up for principal. I do not want to pay $$ for the privilege of being treated like a criminal.

Really smartass? Who was responsible for airline security before 9-11 Mr. Know it all? That's right, the airlines. Perhaps you should look in the mirror before proclaiming you're the All Knowing, All Seeing God of everything.

Too many pansies out there afraid to fly? A LOT of us just don't ENJOY flying any more, and I'm a huge aviation nut. But unless the trip involves crossing a lot of water (we went to Aruba for Springbreak) we don't fly.

Instead, we take THIS:

Bought it last fall. No security checkpoints, every seat is First Class, I can smoke when I want, the food is great, we can bring Andi The Golden Retriever, and sharp objects are no prob. And, when we get where we're going, we have a lovely home to stay in.

Beats th' heck out of flying domestically.

Michael

"The proposed agreement also includes profit sharing of up to 15 percent of eligible pay, if a threshold is met."

In order to share profits, don't there have to BE profits?

Just wondering . . .

Thanks, she will be OK with her seniority. The management is as much to blame here. I'm not interested in a Government bailout either. Company needs to sink or swim on their own. I just dislike the ignorant, cheapshot comments being posted on this subject. Ignorance and arrogance combined is a deadly cocktail.

Hmmmm. Kind of reminiscent of the great trans-Atlantic ocean liners being killed off by the airlines - then re-emerging (Albeit years later) as cruise ships. For decades the great liners competed with faster and ever faster ships. Today, their market is completely different. Speed is now irrelevant, having been replaced as a competitive factor by opulence, entertainment and price since no one actually travels by ship anymore. If you want to get somewhere, you fly.

I wonder how air travel will evolve.

Just a thought

I thought so(or at least that's how it works for us). I have no idea how they run airlines(obviously not very well).

You are not the only one to buy a new RV because of the hassle with airlines.

When gasoline drops back below $1.50 per gallon with no more Iraqi oil going to France, Germany, and Syria, more people will buy them.

Not this time. The articles about executive bonus programs has basically killed any prayer of bailouts now.

Sorry to pee in your Cheerios, but Congress just passed a $3 billion bailout. It's part of the war supplemental, so it's going to become law.

Your comments on security are somewhat accurate. However, the bigger picture comes from 8 yrs of Bubba in the White House. The apathy, the piss poor immigration policies that allowed these folks to freely come in from from their Third World ratholes. But your security at the airports have a little problem holding up when one remembers that they used "boxcutters". If the animals had not been allowed here in the first place... see what I mean.

So if you partially blame the airlines for 9/11, then I take it that you also partially blame the military for the looting that took place at that Baghdad museum?
