If these six Americans rescued are the listed POWs, I wonder if the body the 101st with Geraldo found yesterday is the seventh one. They were in North Baghdad weren't they? Would make sense being they found the other six near Tikrit.

"Joan of Arc" is dead So is Molly Pitcher, Mad Ann Bailey, and Deborah Sampson.
Your exclusion of women from fighting is a form of political correctness. You've set a standard, and you don't want anyone to deviate from it. Well Americans don't fit "standards." My 79 year-old mother said to me the other day that she wanted a rifle, she was so angry at the Baathist tactic of sending women and children in front of suicide bombers.
Joan of Arc may be dead, but not before she destroyed thousands of enemy troops. She once said that her banner was more important than her sword, and when she held it up, her troops were fearless.
I don't like the idea of women being killed in battle, and I'd rather they not fight myself. But when they insist, and when they meet standards, and when their units accept them, I think we should count ourselves lucky that fight they will.

Fine. If you want to live in a world where women are on top of men, so be it.

I believe them, it follows with what is being reported. MIA's, well they were not in the 5 & 2 numbers, most likely do not need to be rescued as opposed to POW's would most likely all be held in the same place. Just my opinion. We had an incident were two MIA's turned up after 5 days after being lost in the desert. Then there is Scott who has yet to be found ;(

Wouldn't a body that he found then be changed to KIA?

Last Sunday morning we awoke to the sad passing of David Bloom and today, Palm Sunday no less, we awake to this wonderful story.
I am so happy right now. I really did not have much hope and I am so GLAD I was wrong.

I hope the citizen who told us where our POW's were will be richly rewarded. And that it be WELL PUBLICIZED. If these people are looting buildings for flower arrangements, think of what they'll divulge for cold, hard cash!

Awesome news if true. Some Iraqi soldiers, and maybe even an interogator or two just got seven bargaining chips, or seven of the worst jurors you could ever hope to assemble.

bbc report
US rescues soldiers held by Iraq
US forces have rescued six US soldiers who were being held by Iraqis, US commander General Tommy Franks says. General Franks said he had been reluctant to release the information because he was unsure whether they were among those listed as missing or as POWs.
At the same time, a US military official at a trauma treatment unit in Baghdad, Lieutenant Colonel Ken Kelly, told the French news agency AFP that six men would be arriving there shortly.
"Apparently, they are in such a condition that they are being brought to a forward critical care unit for evaluation," he said.
