Actor Ron Silver, addressing the Pro-USA and pro-troops rally in Washington DC today and responding to his introduction as a "prominent linberal" said "I think you've seen the end of my days as prominent liberal."
"Peace at what risk? Peace on whose terms? Peace for how long?" he went on. "There are worse things than war. People who think nothing is worth a war is worse."
The enthusiastic crowd cheered as Silver evoked Elie Wiesel and the lessons learned through the horrors of Nazi Germany, enunciating the reasons for America's humanitarian intervention in Iraq.
Following Silver, Linda Chavez remarked that she herself was a former liberal, and invited Silver to join the conservative ranks. "We ought to have a support group for ex-liberals," she said, laughing.

Good luck.
You're going to get a new one courtesy of the "Israel is God's Eternal Chosen People" crew.
Despite what seems to me to be the obvious point of the NT with regard to this. Israel was God's Chosen People. They lost that position (as a people) due to their rejection of the Messiah. As beautifully illustrated in Christ's parable of the wicked tenants (Mt. 21, Mk. 29, Lk. 12).
Individual Jews are still members of the Israel of God, if they accept Christ. But no more so than those of other descent.
BTW, it is perfectly obvious that Jews are a very mixed group ethnically, due to several millenia of conversions and mixed marriages. So what possible meaning can a Chosen People by blood descent have anymore?

"I have seen the light!"
As a converted liberal I resemble that remark. Silver can find another nick.

"There are worse things than war. People who think nothing is worth a war is worse."
Isn't there a quotation from philosopher John Stuart Mill along those same lines?
Ron Silver, Linda Chavez, Elie Weisel at one rally?
Heck, I'd have paid a $10 cover charge for that gig!
Maybe even $20 to hear Silver make his statement.

Judaism is a religion like any other, and not endowed with any "special status" in the eyes of God at all. All religions aren't equivalent and they don't all find the one true God. If you believe the Bible, you have to believe that God chose the Jews for a special relationship with Himself, he made a covenant with the Jews, Moses, Abraham, all the prophets were Jewish, the Messiah would be one of them also. God doesn't back out of deals, if he made them his chosen, they still are.

I think we may be looking at a man who wants to be a public multi-millionaire. When 77% of the population supports the war you CPA wouldn't have any difficulty in steering you towards cold hard cash

This Ron Silver?
I'm impressed.

Purity is only a definition when you discuss politics.
The Republican of the 50's is gone forever. The new Republican is the old Democrat of the 50's.

Elie Wiesel has recently been excoriated for supporting President Bush in his mission to free Iraq. Complaining that he became a captive of the right wing.
Pathetic left.

I find myself no longer astounded by anything the left does or says. CNN is the perfect example.

The definition of "Conservative" is someone who seeks to maintain the status quo. That is clearly not us. That is the definition of the Democrat party now. They wish to maintain and increase the bueracracies and power base built up over the last 75 years, regardless of the harm that it does to real poeople, to freedom and to human progress. Whoa Cowboy. I'm a real conservative, no neo, paleo or libertarian. Your definition is the fake assumption of the "progressives". Conservatives want to conserve institutions not the status quo. We want to conserve what is good and change the rest. We learn from history to find what works and what doesn't. We don't live in history.
Adams wrote that "Our constitution was designed for a moral and religious people, it is wholly unfit for the government of any other." (paraphase) What separates me from Libertarianism is that there are thing that as a society we should not allow. I like not having pornagraphic TV shows on saturday at 8:00 am.

911 has led to a political sea change that many on the left are still processing. It confirmed conservatives "peace through strength" thinking, but has honest folks like Mr. Silver reaching the only logical conclusion.
The Kum Bay Yah left is crumbling and seen as a fringe group. I expect it to last a few election cycles until the RATS fully purge themself of these vermin and get back to the party more like JFK.
