Iraqi arms scientists said to be in Syria-report

WASHINGTON, April 12 (Reuters) - Several leading Iraqi biological weapons scientists are believed to have fled to Syria, The Washington Times reported on Saturday, citing unnamed U.S. government officials.

Among those said to have made it across the Iraqi border to Syria were Huda Salih Mahdi Ammash, a woman known by U.S. intelligence officers as "Mrs. Anthrax," and Rihab Taha, nicknamed "Dr. Germ."

The government officials said intelligence reports showed that either, or both, scientists had taken refuge in the Syrian capital, Damascus, the report said.

Ammash was named on Friday as one of 55 Iraqis the U.S. military has ordered to be captured or killed. Taha was not listed, but is wanted for questioning, the report said.

Ammash has been seen in photographs of Saddam's cabinet meetings as well as in meetings with his son, Qusay, who ran most of Iraq's military and security organizations.

Taha, who was trained in Britain as a microbiologist, is said to have led an Iraqi program to develop anthrax weapons, the Washington Times said.

The United States launched its war on Iraq on March 20 to rid the country of the chemical and biological weapons which Washington says it has. The toppled government of Saddam Hussein denied having such weapons, and U.S. forces have yet to find any.

Senior figures in the Bush administration have in recent weeks accused Syria of providing military help to Iraq.

What about the vials, like Colin Powell is holding -- each one of which, according to President Bush, could bring on "a day of such of horror such as we have known." And where is Saddam? Does he have the vials? Shouldn't we be scared sh*tless about this? If not, why not? Was Bush lying about the "day of horror we have never known" thing? What's up?

In other news, Iraqi Information Minister Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf has denied the existence of Syria and that it would be impossible for Iraqi WMDs, which don't exist, to be in a make-believe country.

I wonder if the 4th I.D. have their GPS units programmed with a direct flat route to Damascus......

Hope we take care of ALL our business, while we're in the neighborhood..

Wonder how many special forces we have in Syria? Seems like it will soon be a target rich environment.

As long as we have these rats on the run and we are in the neighborhood, we should continue the war into Syria. Nobody will (or can) stop us. We have the momentum.

If these scientists have escaped and taken bio seed-stocks with them, they are just as dangerous now as before we invaded Iraq. Once they get set up and running, they will come after us with a vengeance and not give us a second chance to come after them again. Better we wreak our vengeance first!

Syria is as much a terrorist hot-bed as Iraq, maybe moreso. This war is a global effort and we shouldn't be stopping at geo-political borders when our survival is at stake.

There should be no sanctuary. None!

Should we go into Syria, be prepared for the war to heat up and include Lebanon and Israel as the Syrian backed Hezbollah and Irani backed Hamas fight for their survival by attacking Israel. Syria's fall to coalition forces would endanger the terrorists groups now operating in Lebanaon and PLO continued existence. A move on Syria would require detailed palnning with Israel. The already irrational Arabs would see that as the final war against their goal to annihilate the nation of Israel. Arabs in general don't give a damn about Palestinians, they just want to use them as the useful idiots to annihilate Israel.

The gorilla in the corner is Israel and the terrorists who want to exterminate that nation.
