Ex-President Bill Clinton blamed Republicans for the boos he got Wednesday night at a birthday concert for country singer Willie Nelson at New York's Beacon Theater.
"The place went wild when [Clinton] was announced," reports Friday's New York Post Page Six. "There was loud booing and yelling."
Several callers to WABC Radio's Steve Malzberg Show who attended the event described the scene afterward. One quoted the ex-prez as complaining, "I see the Republicans are here tonight."
Another saw a fellow concertgoer who stood up, booed and gave Clinton the finger - prompting security to escort him out of the hall.
The Post confirmed Clinton's Republican comment, adding that he "seemed angered" at his reception.
The remark riled the crowd so much, said the paper, that when Nelson returned to the stage, he asked if everyone was all right.
The concert was taped for a Memorial Day airing on the USA network. "No way will they include the Clinton booing in the broadcast," predicted Malzberg.
Listen to Steve Malzberg in his new time slot on WABC, 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. ET weeknights, 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Sundays.

Savage stated that Clinton had predicted that the war would be over in 2 days, raising the expectations, unrealistically, for a quick victory (don't know how I missed this, I was on vaca skiing in Telluride, CO). Is this really true? Yes, Miss Marple, I and others documented it when, in less than a week into the war the media were crying "lull" and "quagmire" and accusing the Bush Administration of saying it would take just a few days.
In reality, clinton was the one running around shooting off his mouth----at a time of imminent war, mind you, saying it would take "just a few days" and the like. Yes, he did it on numerous occasions during the two weeks leading up to the first strike.
Of course, the Bush Administration had issued statements that urged caution and that it might take time.

Remember the victory of the '94 elections and what happened after. You mean the balanced budget and welfare reform?

Uh, what about freedom of speech?
Oh, I forgot - it only applies to the left.

Good news. Does this mean Clinton will not appear on TV Memorial Day weekend? Or will there be selective editing, a la VH-1?

The Clintons do in fact cause the same shudder here.
They did in fact use FBI, IRS, etc... on conservatives, they were far worse than Nixon ever thought about being.
Hillary learned how to get away with government abuse and did.
The most hated and despised people on earth to this bunch was and is the conservatives. They have not given up on regaining what they believe is theirs.
If we Americans allow them back in power there will be "HELL TO PAY".

Booing only shows how little self-control the booer has - not to mention low self-esteem.Booing is a fit expression of contempt for someone as crass as Bill Clinton. Plug your ears if you don't like hearing it.

You know--if I had been there, it would have been worth it to get thrown out of the concert for booing and giving The Rapist the finger. Heck, it would have been almost as much fun as being an Iraqui tearing down the statue of Saddam Hussein.
Would throwing feces at Clinton be a felony?
Just asking.

adding that he "seemed angered" at his receptionThis is what happens and will continue to happen when the Clintons venture out into areas where there is not a handpicked crowd.
It's called "real life" and I am sure it DOES infuriate him.

"Keep in mind the axiom - what goes round, comes round. If you feel it's fine & dandy to boo a former POTUS you don't like (maybe even applaud the booing) don't be so two-faced to complain when it happens to a former POTUS you happen to like & admire. Civility is dead & I mourn it's passing. This is true, but the scope is too limited. The incivility that elicited (and justified) this reaction was committed by Mr. Clinton, in the form of his unprecedented public criticism, second-guessing, and carping at his successor in office. Even Jimmy Carter, who also made a second career of unprincipled meddling in international relations and offering bad public advice, is a pale shadow of the malign Mr. Clinton.
Most presidents -- all but these two, within my memory -- have been gracious in retirement. Their public activities and pronouncements were directed to education and philanthropic causes with broad public approval, except for a limited role endorsing candidates in campaign season. These two seem determined to establish a new and highly distasteful tradition.

"I find it interesting that Clinton got such a "rousing" recpeption in NYC, ostensibly the heart of Clinton country."
NYC is still IN the heart of Clinton country, but it is also full of New Yorkers. They know he set them up for that WTC sucker punch.

Just today, the Roanoke (VA) "Slimes" presented its dwindling readers with a letter to the editor from some inbred halfwit, who referred to our present POTUS as "Dubya the Dumb". The letter railed on and on about the President's apparent lact of intellect, and the audacity of the Liberation of Iraq.
Now, why did the one citizen get tossed out on his ear for razzing the Impeached One, yet the 2nd citizen gets rewarded for insulting a fine President by having his rantings published in a city newspaper?

And notice in a later reply he adds "gloating over victories" and such.
Get it? We better not say that GWB is deserving of praise for this war or we're "gloating".
Yep, someone has an agenda here.
