Slightly more than half of New York Democrats don't want Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton to run for president in 2004, according to a poll released Thursday. The former first lady has finished first in national surveys of Democrats when she is included in the crowded field, although she has indicated she has no plans to run.
Asked if they wanted Clinton to run, 54 percent of New York Democrats said no and 43 percent said yes in a poll conducted by the Marist Institute. Questioned about the senator's plans, Clinton's spokesman, Philippe Reines, said his boss, "is going to serve out her full six-year term. She loves her job."
Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut finished first among New York Democrats with 21 percent, Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts and Al Sharpton, who is from New York, garnered 10 percent, and the remaining candidates were in single digits.
The poll of 686 registered voters was conducted April 2-3 and included 319 Democrats. The error margin for the sample of Democrats was plus or minus 5.5 percentage points.

They ought to ask how many New Yorkers want her to WIN the Presidency. I doubt if that would break 30%.
Half the New Yorkers who want her to run just want her to give up her Senate seat.

What!?! You mean that was a possibility? Seriously?
Actually, Hillary's too smart to run in 2004. After this war and all the democratic poo-poo'ing about it, the Dem's don't stand a chance in 2004 and those who do run will likely end up being one-time runners. You watch, she'll tone it down and be relatively quiet in politics until this war is more of memory. She's a cold, calculating, patient woman. She'll sit and wait (working her sidelines) until the right moment comes -- and at that time I will pray ferverishly for our nation dash her ambitions once and for all.

43 percent said yes. Chilling.

But why do they want her as Senator?

I think the last poll that was 69% didn't want her to run. But ... I don't know the demographics on that percentage.
