G. McGovern Rips Bush in the week of Iraqi Liberation...
The Nation. ^ | The Reason Why | George McGovern

Posted on 04/09/2003 4:16:52 PM PDT by Joe Anybody

Thanks to the most crudely partisan decision in the history of the Supreme Court, the nation has been given a President of painfully limited wisdom and compassion and lacking any sense of the nation's true greatness....

....This President and his advisers know well how to get us involved in imperial crusades abroad while pillaging the ordinary American at home. The same families who are exploited by a rich man's government find their sons and daughters being called to war, as they were in Vietnam--but not the sons of the rich and well connected.

.....As I have watched America's moral and political standing in the world fade as the globe's inhabitants view the senseless and immoral bombing of ancient, historic Baghdad, I think often of another Jefferson observation during an earlier bad time in the nation's history: "I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just."

Yeah, he's not even an x that 2% of the "base" would recognize, they just say "I don't know who he is, but I like what he says...what he say?"

Keep talking, George. You ruined the Democratic Party once, here's hoping you can do it again.

"Thanks to the most crudely partisan decision in the history of the Supreme Court"

You know, I'm getting really tired of this kind of statement. Yes, the vote split down party lines, but it never seems to enter the heads of some people that the partisans might have been the ones who voted against clear interpretations of election law.

This sad sack POS will never get it. People in 1972 didn't care what he had to say then so what makes him think they will care now!

I'm really sick of this crap. What recount did Gore win Senator? Even the biased media couldn't figure out a recount that would have Gore win, even months after the Constitution required a decision to have been made.

The lawful authority, the Surpreme Court, decided. It's legal. Get over with it already.

And how many states did Mr. McGovern garner when running for president? This is the reason he got his ass whipped to begin with.

The inconsequential lefties are just jealous. McGovern just wished they could have won the war in Viet Nam in 3 weeks. LBJ must be steaming in his grave. Semper Fi

The 2 votes to stop the existing recounts were not partisan. They were 9 to 0 and 7 to 2. The votes on whether or not to begin new, Statewide, recounts were 5 to 4. To repeat, the recounts were halted on votes of 9/0 and 7/2.

They could have. Any 3 week period.

McGovern is a great guy and doing good work in Food for Peace. He is politically way too Left to represent the country, but otherwise he doesn't have many faults.
