That picture of Saddam's statue being towed along the street reminds me of the photos taken after we lost those soldiers in Somalia. Too bad it's only a statue... I wonder if the symbolism has made an impression on that Columbia University professor.

I wonder if the symbolism has made an impression on that Columbia University professor. I imagine only a handful of people weren't impressed today. Also I think interesting times have only just begun. With hopes I'm not too terribly optimistic, this could mean a world of change for the good.

Katie calls it "a desecration."
Well, for gummy girl Katie, it would be a desecration -- of one of her sacred images.

I would like to see Arthur Kent, Putrid and Chiraq go into the streets of Baghdad and tell the people of Iraq how they supported the despot Soddomite for decades.

Just think, if Billy Jeff had the balls in 98, He could have done in Osama and Saddam in the same amount of time W did. History would have been much different. Big difference between searching for a legacy and having balls

Re pieces of the Berlin wall They're pretty common actually. I have a piece I knocked off myself with the blue paint and all.
It was a big wall. Not like Sadman's puny head.

Katie calls it "a desecration." Are you referring to Katie Kommunist? My God, that woman's brain cells have been destroyed by all her repeated hair coloring. Anything that idiot brings up, I know it ain't so.

"What exactly happened between the time the US flag was replaced by the Iraqi one? Don't believe our flag was there longer than 5 minutes. During that time the soldiers attempted to secure the rope to the tank and I suspect word from their commander told them to remove our flag immediately. When our flag was draped over SH's face, Britt Hume said "no no" but he didn't go further, as he too realized the marine was caught up in the moment. The military has been told that Old Glory should not be prominent lest the Iraqis believe we were there to conquer not to liberate."
I am so sick of this crap being spouted. The IRAQIS don't see our flag as a symbol of being conquered. If they did, they wouldn't be WAVING IT themselves.

There's one in my village next to a fraternity house, given by an alum. They were going to put a little garden and benches by it but they never did.

Brit is really great. He's my favorite newscaster. I never miss his show if I can help it. He's got a great smile and dry sense of humor, and, he's ONE OF US!
