Wow! Is this war over or what?
Looks like the Iraqi government has totally collapsed and the Iraqis are celebrating in the streets.
Hallelujah!

You are correct. The tipping point has been reached... there is no going back. Thanks, Jim Rob, for providing the best site to keep abreast of the news.

The reports I'm hearing is that we are basically in control of the entire city now.
Also, there are reports that we have hit Tikrit very hard in the last couple of hours.
Never thought I would ever say this about looters, but it warms my heart to see the UN compound stripped to the bone. Wonder if those folks would like a little tour of New York! ;-)

I'm deeply saddened...

As much as I'd like to believe so, I think we have a long haul ahead of us rooting out some more bad guys ... many have faded back into the civilian population ... nonetheless it has gone as well as could be expected so far ...
we'll have to watch them the way Israel watches their neighbors ... that's the Middle East ...
Saddam, if he's alive, will never be in control again ... that's for sure ...

Iraqis are dancing in the streets. I wonder what all the losers are thinking (Arab press, the French, Germans, the NYT, Canadians, Democrats, all the arm-chair Generals, etc.).

Free Republic has been one of the better bunker busters all along -- simply an indispensable source of quick, reliable information. Congratulations, Jim.

Sitting here grinning from ear to ear as I watch the Iraqis celebrating and looting and I am reminded of the end scene in Star War Return of the Jedi.
Now we just have to wait for the BIG statue to be pulled down (or blown up).
Sack the UN (HA!) and BaghdadBob is AWOL (Double HA!)

Great to see the smiling faces on all those Iraqi citizens.
I heard someone on Fox a little while ago say that the people are chanting "thank you Bush" (or something like that).

I think almost over. My guess at this time is government moved to Saddams hometown Tikrit. there is still army there. 4th ID will go there if they do not give up before they get there.

It's midday in Baghdad, and you're right...the people are overjoyed, thrilled....as if they knew before we did, that the end of evil has arrived.
They are looting, but only from government and military buildings. Party time in Baghdad!
The Information Minister is gone. The journalists' minders didn't show up for work today, MSNBC says they have fled Baghdad. I'd call this an unintended consequence from that tank hitting The Palestine. Take that Christianne Amanpour!
There's no police, no state television and no state radio.

ya gotta admit "Baghdad Bob" was (unintentionally) good for a lot of laughs ...
on a more serious note, on Iraqi tactic used against Iran was to let them battle for a city, take that city, and then get attacked by artillery dialed-in on that city ... I don't want to be negative ... I'm just cautious when it comes to these guys ... there's a lot of work to be done ...
