Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

To all who helped this get started and keep it running, thank you!
Special thanks to Null and Void for keeping these threads running on the weekends, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, Ragtime Cowgirl for her Exclusive Live Transcription Service, Fledermaus for his 15 minutes of fame, and, of course, Belly Girl...
Which is what Shep did. He brought up comments from viewers and he exercised his right to speak and indirectly showed how ignorant they were to write such a comment.
And he has every right to do so because he is on American soil!
The point is, these reporters have placed themselves in a very precarious situation as there is a real war going on over there - it's not a hollywood production.
Have you ever wondered why he's still on the air?
No, I don't wonder. I think it might have to do with the fact that our troops are fighting a war at the moment and he's not at the top of their list - yet.
At this point there is a credibility problem. On one hand you have CNN/Fox/MSNBC/BBC/Al-Jazeera/etc. showing video footage of troops inside Hussein's palace and rolling down the streets. At the same time you have Baghdad Bob on tv saying "there are no troops here." This guts the credibility of the Iraqi government with their own people. Even if they don't have the other news outlets, they see the tanks in their city, and they see the ONLY governmental official saying it's not true.
Yes, there is definitely a credibility problem - for our side. The people who see The Baghdad Bob Show are not the ones living in Baghdad - and what they are seeing in addition to Baghdad Bob's daily report is the video showing their camera man or reporter getting blown away by one of our tanks.
Again, how does this help our side?
Yes. Fox has two Simons with British accents, so don't get them mixed up. Simon the Good is in Kuwait or Jordan and actually works for Fox. Simon the Bad is the one that looks like the world's worst Sam Waterston impersonator who's actually in Baghdad and works for Sky.
They already do, it's called "The Opposition Party"
