Operation Iraqi Freedom
This thread is dedicated to the brave men and women of the
Armed Forces of the United States of America.
"Wish You Were Here"
For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud,
but who will fight for you? No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers, and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die,
We might not be able to save the world, Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
so when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.
Corporal Joshua Miles and all the boys from 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines,
Kuwait 3/9/2003

Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A brief description of what the graphic is would help! If you post graphics, please "size" them so that our browsers continue to load the rest of the thread!

I've got an important question - someone just posted the polling was sort of close on UN vs US resconstruction of Irag and it was from CNN. On TV or their web site?
Because on their web site it's been 65/35 for the last 2-3 hours... so where are they (CNN) getting the other figures!!??
To: GOPyouth

I just skipped a few hundred posts to get within 100 or so. Be up front in a few. Wiping up the rear, as usual.

I earned that handle when I took back a car that was stolen from my son.
I followed a bunch of guys to a Mc Donalds, met them face to face with the title and said give me the keys.
He handed me the keys and said lets go outside and talk. I said; "No! I will just stay here and drink my coffee.
Needles to say I was shaking like a leaf all the way home.

Fox - Bret Beir reports a few bombs being dropped still on Baghdad, but quite a few on Tikrit. Being pounded from the air. Operations in Mosul and Kirkuk. Some oil wells still in enemy hands. Next goal in the northern front. 1st Infantry flying into the north. Mop up ops going on in the South. Brit and U.S. Marines clearing out cities we passed on the way to Baghdad. AP reports that the 1st Battalion of the Royal Irish Regiment went into the city that is believed to be the location of the Garden of Eden and were welcomed.
Rick Levanthal's on live. Got more sleep last night than he has in 8 weeks.

That's the conventional definition. My pop called me "Spunky" too. I have fond memories of it.
You ought to be proud of your stand -- good job.

he made a good point last night (think it was last night) when he said those journalists were over there for US so that we could see what went on and get all these great webcams and photos they've been getting over there.. we shouldn't be so callous towards them just because they are media...(those weren't his words, they are what I understood him to mean) plus, Shep said it and his word is as good as law as far as I'm concerned :-p of course, i'm a sucker for a pretty face.. he's even cute when he's angry.
