Great! I can't go; it's too far for someone vehicle-less in Boston who has classes that start at 8:30 am on Friday...My fiance won't be in Worcester until Friday night--he has drill this weekend...

Worcester has a very small-town like atmosphere to me; I liked it as a change to Boston (I stayed there during Christmas/Winter Break of 2001/2002, while my fiance had been activated but not yet deployed to Camp Lejuene [he was deactivated this last Dec./Jan.]). It's very spread out; you really need a car to get around, unless you are only going to places within a short distance and don't mind walking a bit. Normally, the weather in central MA is harsher than it along the coast, but it seems that the weather is warming up some this weekend, at least a little bit. I can't think of anything else to really describe the area; I'm sure others can do better than I can!
Oh, and just to clarify; my "great" sounds almost a bit sarcastic to me...I didn't mean for it to be. I meant that it's great that this is happening! I hope lots of people are able to show up and that it goes well!

Worcester still has a sort of Mill town feel to it on the edges of downtown. The downtown area is lively during the day, but most folks don't hang around at night. City Hall, where the Rally is going to be is not far from either the Train station, or the Bus station, though to walk to it from either place involves walking across a couple of major streets. It would be about 4-5 blocks from either location. The Worcester Common Fashion Outlet Mall is right behind City Hall.

Mill town? Any old "Quebekkers" still left?My daughter laughed when she read that. She said in her best 'Canadian lilt', "You wanna go"? That's the 'tagline' for the Worcester Ice Cats hockey team. Whoever says it on the radio sounds like he's from Canada.
Yeah, there are lots of folks whose grandparents and great-grandparents are French Canadian. The whole flap about St. Joseph's Church closing a few years ago was tied up in the French-Canadian thing.
