FYI
Homeowners in Military Winning Capital-Gains Relief
(April 8) -- Both the Senate and the House have passed versions of the Armed Forces Tax Fairness Act, which will allow active-duty service personnel stationed away from their homes to qualify for the capital gains exemption when they sell. An oversight in the Congressional reform of the home-sale capital-gains rules in 1997 has placed a higher tax burden on these homeowners.
Homeowners can exclude sale profits of as much as $250,000 or $500,000, depending on their marital status, as long as they have lived in the home for two of the last five years. However, since members of the armed forces are often away from their homes for long periods of time, they have been forced to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal and state capital gains taxes.
The law should save military homeowners about $23 million annually over the next 10 years. The legislation would suspend overseas military service from the capital gains two-out-of-five-year test. The suspension can last up to five years in the House version and as many as 10 years in the Senate's bill; military personnel must be gone more than 180 days and stationed 150 miles or more from home to qualify for the suspension under the House bill, while the Senate version requires them to be stationed just 50 miles from home for more than 90 days.

"The soldiers want to hear the truth and it is my responsibility to present it to them. I care for each of my men and pray for God's protection and grace to be upon them. I will be there for them every step along the way, from the front lines in our battle positions, to jumping into combat, to returning back home. I live where they live and suffer as they suffer. Wonderful article. Thanks for the ping.

The reason that picture of the young man being baptised brought tears to your eyes is because you are rejoicing with the angels in Heaven!
Luke 15:10 ... In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the Angels of God over one sinner who repents.

Bibles for Soldiers
Bibles for our troops Through our Military Chaplain Outreach, IBS is providing & desert Bibles and New Testaments to troops in Iraq, troops preparing for deployment, and troops remaining at home station. IBS sends Scriptures to military chaplains, who distribute the Scriptures to their service members. Priority is given to Reserve and National Guard Chaplains because they typically have limited funds to purchase Scriptures, said Retired Army Chaplain Chuck Adams, Military Representative. More Reserve and National Guard troops are being called to active duty now than in the 1991 Gulf War. That's why the need is so great right now to supply Reserve and National Guard Chaplains with Bibles, Adams said. We want to get Scriptures to the troops at their U.S. bases before they leave for Iraq, so they have God's Word with them in their pockets. But we also can put the Scriptures on U.S. supply planes. They;re delivered to the Chaplains through the regular supply lines on the ground in Iraq. Either way, we'd like to know that every soldier who wants God's Word has it.
About this photo: A soldier from the 3rd Infantry Division is baptized in the desert on March 12 in an improvised baptism pool. Other soldiers, barefoot in the background, await their baptisms. Eight soldiers were baptized that day.

Glad to hear this. I read that our troops can not have Bibles iIraq. I don't know if its true or not.
I know I had a Bible with me when I was in the Marines.

"...some of my time in the (Gallipoli) trenches was employed burying British dead, that had laid in the field for a fortnight. Going forth with pick and shovel, I sought to give these heroes a Christian burial. In doing this one morning, I had occasion to go onto a ridge in full view of the enemy from two points. They started shelling, evidently thinking I was one of the (trench) digging party.
They sent over whizz-bangs (mortars) and later, big shells, which fell in close proximity to where I was working. I had buried seven of these fallen heroes, when my Guardian Angel said to me, 'get way from here, quickly.' I obeyed instantly, and had got away twenty five yards in a slanting direction from the enemy's fire when a big shell landed right on the very spot where I had been standing just a few seconds before. All I got was a shower of earth."
(Padre) McKenzie wrote to his wife to put her mind at ease: "I know now that if I pay heed and obey God I shall continue unharmed until my work is finished, so if I fall on the field, you will know the reason."

...Imaginary Friend....That's right.
The same 'imaginary' Friend, of George Washington, Ronald Reagan, and George W. Bush.
Any more questions?
