Good Morning! Come meet some of America's First Ladies today.

Louisia Catherine Adams White House Years 1825 - 1829
Louisa Johnson Adams (1775-1852), was the wife of John Quincy Adams, who until George W. Bush, was the only son of a former President to become President of the United States. Mrs. Adams is the only first lady born in a foreign country. She was born in London on Feb. 12, 1775. Her father was a Maryland merchant working in London. He later held the diplomatic post of United States consul to that city.

Thanks so much for NOT including the former female occupant of the WH. She's disqualified on 2 counts: no lady and not beloved. ('Wish you'd cropped the Carter one outa the picture.)

Hi, Billie!
I gotta save this thread for sure!
I love reading about the First Ladies.
My favorite First Lady from the 19th centuary is Dolley Madison.
I think the saddest First Lady was Jane Means Appleton Pierce, she didn't want to marry a politician, she even made her husband promise not to run for any office. But he was drafted as a dark horse candidate for the democratic party nomination in I think 1848?
they had three sons two of whom died in infancy and one died in a train wreck at the age of 11 just a few months before Franklyn Pierce was inaugerated as the 14th president of the US.

As always, Empress, this is
OUTSTANDING!! Love the 'portraits' with the simple touch of color.
Reminds me of the subtle Schlindler's List movie in black and white and the red coat of the little girl - - - far more dramatic than were it in full color.
The information is just enough - not too much -
right on target, as you always are.

{{{{{{{{BILLIE}}}}}}} - what an excellent tribute to some wonderful first ladies. You created a wonderful presentation, worthy of keeping and cherishing.
We are so blessed to have such an elegant and poised First Lady in the White House now. The former witch-who-inhabited-the-White-House was a curse we had to live with, but now we are truly blessed.

Good morning everyone. Checking in with ((((((((hugs)))))))) for each and every one of you.
Billie, thank you for this beautifully done presentation today. What a job the First Ladies have! I don't envy them, but Laura Bush handles her responsibilities so well, doesn't she? She is a naturally sweet, loving person, and she just glows with confidence...(a trait shared by most Republican women, I think). We are blessed to have her and the husband she adores in the White House.
It is going to be a beautiful spring day here. A "gardening" day for me. Hope you all have a beautiful day too, wherever you are.
