For years, the story of the Republican Guard has been told as an epic in waiting, the story of an elite, well-equipped, motivated force, loyal to Saddam Hussein
The Republican Guard's much touted "expertise" is not in combat with fighting forces, but in brutal, KGB style oppression directed at the Iraqi people.

What's this, did the Guardian not want to print another disproven column by Fisk about how Baghdad's defenses were impenetrable, again?!

There's still some hints of leftist angst in the story...the Guardian has not surrendered entirely to reality.

Any overlap of the invasion of Iraq and America's proclaimed war on terror would be a disturbing development, whether it was real or in the minds of the invaders. I dont understand what the author is implying here. Can someone help me out?

Still sounds pretty leftie to me.

Can't really help you, but I'm guessing he'd be disturbed by the overlap of the forest and the trees, too.

Exactly.

It is called cognitive dissonance. When liberals are forced to face reality it can cause their heads to explode.

"What's this, did the Guardian not want to print another disproven column by Fisk about how Baghdad's defenses were impenetrable, again?!" Fisk writes for the Independent.

When I think of Iwo Jima, or Normandy, or Valley Forge, or a hundred other places where the U.S. military has prevailed even against terrible odds and enemies far more fearsome than anything Iraq had, I really have to wonder about these journalists. Are they so blinded by their hatred for America that they can't see the obvious?
But then only a week ago we where told that the plan was in hopeless disarray and we where in trouble. Is there such a thing as journalistic malpractice?

"Fisk writes for the Independent."
My mistake. I just don't know *how* that I could have confused the two Leftist rags.

"The apparent collapse of the Republican Guard was matched yesterday by the visible collapse of popular Iraqi belief in the possibility of Saddam's survival.""they knew Saddam was finished, and they were glad. For the first time, Iraqis could be seen mocking the images of President Saddam "
The staff of the Guardian is despondent. In fact the entire staffs of the Guardian, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, and CNNNBCCBSABC are on suicide watch.

The Wa Post much to my surprise has been reasonably sane on the Iraq war. The rest of the papers aren't fit to line bird cages.

Yes, they are all part of the leftist, anti-American propaganda machine. They are bitterly disappointed by America's successes and, in particular, by the successes of President Bush.

Well the best way to cheer up all these journalistic types is to prescribe something of a mood/spirit lifter I reccomend they take a double fist full of sleeping pills/tranquilizers followed by a whiskey chaser that should do the trick . If you have another "folk" remedy that might solve the journalist's blue's post it to them it might "help" =8^>
