NEW LOCATION FOR HUGE D.C. RALLY FOR AMERICA, SATURDAY, APRIL 12
Citizens United Foundation ^ | Saturday, April 5, 2003 | Kristinn

Posted on 04/05/2003 9:58:15 AM PST by kristinn

The Rally for the Troops, Rally for America being organized by Citizens United and Young America's Foundation in Washington, D.C. from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 12 has been moved to a location away from the anti-war rally and march being held by C.A.N.S.W.E.R. the same day and time.

The support our troops rally, co-sponsored by the D.C. Chapter of Free Republic, will now be held on the Mall between 3rd and 4th Streets, NW. This area of the Mall is also between the Capitol and the Air & Space museums.

The nearest Metro stations are Federal Center, L'Enfant Plaza, Smithsonian, Judiciary Square and Archives/Navy Memorial. A little further away are Union Station, Federal Triangle, and Capitol South.

Those driving to D.C. from out of state might do well to utilize the parking lots at the outlying Metro stations just off the interstates as you approach the Beltway.

Street and pay lots/garages are available in town. Come early for the best spots as this is one of the busiest tourist times with the cherry blossoms in bloom.

Click here for a detailed map of downtown D.C.

Those attending are asked to bring American flags, large and small and signs bearing messages supporting our troops and the U.S.A. Citizens United also is asking for people to bring: "Donations for the troops. If you would like to bring something, they are asking for: baby wipes, sunscreen, lip balm, pre-paid international calling cards, and letters of support."

For more information about the rally and Citizens United, click the source link above.

Along with other co-sponsors of the rally, the D.C. Chapter will have a booth or table there. Stop by and say hello.

Headlining the rally will be G. Gordon Liddy and country music star Aaron Tippin. From the announcement, "There will also be a special video presentation for the troops featuring country music legends Toby Keith, Travis Tritt, the Charlie Daniel’s Band and Ben Stein of Comedy Central."

Please make the extra effort to come out for this one. The tide has shifted against the so-called "anti-war" movement, but they did have an effect on troop morale. It's important that those who support the troops and their mission make a loud public statement in our nation's capital. Our troops have given their all for us, the least we can do is give up an afternoon to stand up for them.

Mr. Kafoury did acknowledge that the antiwar movement's direction has shifted because of the success of the U.S. military invasion of Iraq, and that it has been harder to motivate people to attend antiwar rallies. He said the antiwar movement is "evolving into a longer-term movement to stop Bush in 2004, and to stop U.S. unilateral, pre-emptive wars."

Big farkin' surprise there.

I was going to post it as a separate article but the Left has received major body blows today

They are unrepentant. Go ahead and kick 'em.

Besides, it's good publicity for the rally! It looks like a real good time by comparison...

Hey! It's me! the sister-in-law from hell! I wanted to leave you some $$ to donate in any way you feel is appropriate - supplies for the troops or whatever. Not for the beverage budget though! Ha! Will leave it at the house tonight. When do you leave?

R-R-R-R-A-A-A-A-A-A-O-O-O-O-W-W-W-W! Damn it, let's ALL show up! That'll show those ANSWER pinkos who America REALLY is! Check all comments on this rally-it's called Rally for America, put on by Citizens United and Young America's Foundation. It's co-sponsored by D.C. FREEp! Come on, Marylanders! Let's show up for our D.C. compatriates! Let's give the pinkies a show they will never forget! E-mail, phone, and otherwise jingle everybody you can think of. I want to help put Free Republic on the stinking MAP. More importantly, I want to know that I stand among a HUGE group of dedicated Americans who truly cares about their own country, their own freedom, and the desire to spread our type of prosperity around the globe.

Kristenn, please spread this as far and as wide as you can! I want to see that Mall so packed that no media worthy of the title would even DARE to play it down. This is our chance, while we still have a free Internet, to get the word out. Let's make the best of it!!!

Hope to see y'all there!

Thank you so much for helping spread the word. I've never been much of an activist, but this business has fired my jets. Pass your post(s) along to as many people as you can. I want this rally to dwarf the Promisekeepers rally in '01. Don't sweat the MMM gaggle; we've already topped the poverty pimps and the gun-grabbing Stalinists.

Don't you even care about names; I don't want anyone's recognition. What I want is to see the biggest F****NG Pro-America rally the world has seen since WWII. I want to see people so thick that tanks couldn't move them.

Kudos, hoss! Hope to see you there!

Tommy D is saddamed and deeply disjointed.

You sure can turn a phrase. Great and funny writing!

I'm planning on being there! However, my husband is worried about this stupid anti-war protest and he heard on the DC station that the IMF protesters are going to be there too!

Does anyone know about this? Thanks!

The anti-IMF people have their rally on Sunday, but will likely be there on Saturday too. There is considerable overlap in the two groups.

To avoid unnecessary hassles when outnumbered, you can keep signs, flags & patriotic hats, etc. to yourself until in the presence of fellow patriots and/or police officers.

The C.A.N.S.W.E.R. crowd will be meeting at Pershing Park, on Pennsylvania Avenue near the White House. Then they will be marching along a very circuitous route so that they will pass by the FBI, the State Department, the Washington Post, Bechtel Corp, and a couple of other "bad" places, with their march ending at Fox studios.

From the looks of their march route map, handily published by the Washington Post, they won't come near the pro-troops/pro-America rally.

If the WP published their march route, and has given them a ton of press over the past year and-a-half, what are these BOZOS doing protesting them??

Last note: G. Gordon Liddy just plugged the rally (three or four times!), during his appearance on Hannity and Colmes tonight; and GGL said there will be several thousand pro-America/pro-troops bikers at the rally - so you won't be able to miss it. If that's the case, we won't have to worry about our safety, either. ;-)

GGL was kidding, I think.

;-)

Thanks! My husband had me go incognito when I was a speaker at the DC Chapter's first Patriot's Rally for America. I changed into Red, White, and Blue in the well-guarded porta-potties once I got there, and back into jeans before I left.

I just went out for a bite with my husband and he now is resigned to my attending.

So, I'LL SEE YOU THERE!!!

Rally-day good morning BUMP!

Somebody's parking angel must have changed hats last night, and she covered me as my "on-call" angel. After a full night's sleep, I'm up and getting things together for the great day ahead!

One thing I don't have, but need... some string/rope to hold the 12' banner for people to sign. I have plenty of Sharpie markers. Anybody have some in their garage??

Will anybody be bringing a small CD boombox/radio for early listening?
