We had our first rally today in Hilo and here they are. here they are. (Sure hope this link works. It's my first try at it.) We had a good turn out considering it rained and was our first rally. We will be repeating this every Friday.

Boy you people in Hawaii are something else--doing your rallies on a work day! Hey, what am I complaining about--I'm a stay at home mom! Thanks for the pictures--I've never been to Hawaii--it looks beautiful. So green.

You got it, paradise. They say mainlanders who move there only last two years or so but I think I could be an exception !

Bless you, Hilo FReepers! Wonderful rally... I love that "Get-A-Life" sign! LOL
Is that the famous Hilo banyan tree you're standing under? I remember that tree (or a very similar one) when we visited Hilo back in 1991 on our honeymoon. *Sigh* Your pictures make me want to go back to Hawaii ASAP! :-)

Dangit, I left Hilo (well, Puna actually) two years ago. Never knew there were any FReepers there.

Is that on Kam Avenue? After two years, I barely recognize the place.

We had our Support the Troops Rally in Fairbanks today too. Don't know how many showed up, 500 at least, maybe 1000. Some speakers, some singing. Quiet, lots of family groups.
There was an anti-war demonstration elsewhere in town, maybe 50 hanging around the street corners carrying really inane signs. There were also had a couple of recently sobered employees carrying the K-Mart store closing signs, but they weren't with the demonstrators; kind of a separate event at the same intersection.

Is that on Kam Avenue?Yep, in front of the King Kam statue down from the Chevron station.

Terrific -- and nice big flag on that green van! Keep up the good work. Good news that there will be additional rallies. Each time you'll add more people!
