BOSE ORDERS EMPLOYEES TO REMOVE FLAGS FROM STORE ???

A caller to G. Gordon Liddy show today, said he was an employee of Bose (on his lunch break), and said BOSE corporate has ordered all flags, and flag related decorations taken down from all stores so as not to offend customers!!! Caller said one employee refused and quit.

Has anyone else heard about this???

Seems like I heard something about the guy who started Bose (or maybe it was the guy who invented the technology) went to the Naval Academy.

He is a graduate of MIT and at times teaches there.

Amar Bose was a professor at MIT. I took my Introductory Network Theory class from him in 1968 (using a text he wrote), and he was an excellent teacher.

I doubt that he still teaches classes, given that he's now quite old and has a net worth of half a billion dollars.

I know you are asking, "Missouri is landlocked. How does it have a beach?" I doesn't, but a lot of towns on lakes are called "beaches" around here.

Jiminy...I actually don't know if he has a preferred brand of "off the shelf"
audio equipment.

I might talk to him this weekend...and I'll try to remember to get his opinion
about "best buys" of audio equipment.
(Honest, he does know his stuff...he worked for an audio company in Dallas, and set
up loudspeaker units in places like shopping malls during the holiday season...at least
until he found a niche in Internet work that's made him fairly rich, if not quite independently
wealthy).

You might check with the folks who posted #25 and #32 in the interim and see
if they have any favorite audio brands.

If you listen to mostly classical, opera, early music and want small speakers, then you can get no better system than the BOSE Lifestyle system. Do not listen to these guys that heard something from a friend's brother. That is how false rumours start. BOSE is a fantastic HiFi and well worth the money.

of course your question is a bit vague in regard to how you are planning on using your music - but you may want to consider a multi-media computer

I've got a Dell and a Mac G4...the Mac G4 is CLEARLY superior to the PC, and the OSX operating system, based on the Unix kernel, is far superior to Windows XP.

By teh by, I have a death touch with Macs.
I've been known to , under NORMAL operation, make a Mac crash so badly that it was basically a boat anchor.
The 'crashless computer' is a myth.

The only people who have ever said Bose was good was....ta ta...BOSE!

I have been in the hifi biz (and now install Home Theaters) since 1974 and have NEVER heard of a single person who has purchased Bose products for their own use. The other posters are absolutely right....
For HALF the price, you can get over TWICE the performance with competitive brands (Polk, Boston Acoustic, Klipsch, Mirage, Cambridge etc.)

Cambridge, BTW, was founded by a true giant in the audio industry who recently passed....Henry Kloss.

He was the "K" in KLH, invented the 'Acoustic Suspension' speaker which he used in speaker systems from the next two companies he founded (AR and Advent) and went on to form Kloss Novabeam Projection TVs and lastly, returning to his roots, Cambridge Soundworks.

Thanks for the link. I'd had the impression that Prof. Bose was a bit older than 72 (now), but as I think about it that sounds about right.

Here come the "Bose Is Bliss" trolls.

I would suggest that anyone looking for a decent, halfway-concealable sound system look into the various Home Theater In A Box systems available. The satellite speakers are very small, and their lack of size is compensated for by their subwoofers. The systems come with a 6-channel (Dolby 5.1) receiver which can accept all kinds of inputs. Most receivers have a built-in DVD player, which will play your CD's, too. You can get quite a good system for $400. Sony, Kenwood, Onkyo, several others all make fine systems in this price range - and once you've found a place to park the sub, the other speakers take up very little space. Most systems even come with pre-cut speaker wires to make hookup easy.

This might be true, but you are limited to using proprietry software and hardware. Far more expensive.

I would recommend installing Redhat 8 or 9 on your DELL pc and then try to compare OSX again. If you want an OS based on Unix, get Linux. I have a G4 too and I find it vastly inferior to my 300Mhz DELL running Redhat8.

I run MS Office 2000 for (compatibility reasons to the rest of the world) on it. The only thing it cannot do is run my games, but then, neither can the Mac.
