Bill ORiley and Brett Beher (sp) of FNC both all but 100% confirmed that at least some of the 11 bodies that were brought back from Iraqi hospital were U.S. POWs. It appears that at least some were executed. Beher at DOD did not want to go too deep into story, as notifications were not yet complete.
SEAL and Ranger teams found two of the eleven bodies in the morgue of the hospital where PFC Lynch was found. An employee of the hospital led them to a shallow grave were another 9 bodies were found. All were returned by helicopter to U.S. control. It is assumed these bodies are from the 507th Maintenance Company at Ft. Bliss, but there is no confirmation. Due to the conditions of the bodies, advanced forensics work is required to determine the identity and exact cause of death
There is also no confirmation of whether or not these bodies might be some of the U.S. POWs that Iraqi television featured in an interview.
Although DOD will not officially confirm anything, there is talk about making some announcement once notifications are complete. If not U.S. soldiers or Marines, why would notifications be necessary?
If it is proven that these were U.S. soldiers and were executed, there will be lots of issues to be resolved.

I've used this tagline on and off for days.
It really fits.
What the insects that committed this atrocity need is a little payback.
Leave them tied up in a room. Invite the female relatives of their victims to "visit".

Find them and hang them;
No: Find them, cut off their legs at the ankle, their hands at the wrist. Cut out their tounges, cut off their noses, gouge out their eyes..... but leave their ears undamaged, so they can hear the screams of terror from the children as they come into view.

At least with a possible witness, those responsible can hopefully be brought to justice. With a military government likely to be running Iraq for the interim, I would think a swift miltary tribunal would be in order followed by a hanging. Video of course should be provided to AlJazeera.

Ya know folks, if this turns out to be true, and I believe it is true, it will anger EVERY caring American and stiffen the resolve of our troops to make the Iraqis pay! Let the death of these heros NOT be in vain.

I understand your meaning, but really Saddam et al really do know the meaning of a longterm feud. They have kept up a feud with the Jews for about 5,000 years.

Two of the bodies were discovered to be Iraqis, and those were 'returned'....ID is supposedly not yet complte on the rest, but that does likely mean some of them were US soldiers.

Given the recurring fact that we hear of something one day and then the next is a small story saying the first one wasn't true, I'll wait and see what the "truth" on this one turns out to be.
Most recently an FA-18 is shot down by Iraqi's, then we find out it was friendly fire. And Jessica Lynch had gunshot and stab wounds, and now her dad is saying that's not true, she only had back surgery. Numerous other examples in the last couple of weeks.
The first casualty of war is truth.

When the Athenians surrendered to the Spartan led Syracusans, the Syracusans exacted revenge on their Athenian foes in some pretty horrific ways - live disembowlments, amputations, etc. My guess is that some of the revenge that Iraqi will unleash against Iraqi may be equally as horrid.

It pains me to "defend" Saddam Hussein and/or the Iraqi military, but in a case like this it may be impossible to determine if these executions were carried out by Iraqi military forces or by random "civilians."
It's not as if it hadn't happened before. Allied pilots who bailed out of their planes behind enemy lines in World War II used to make every effort to avoid being caught by civilians because their chances of survival were often diminished if the person who caught them was a civilian.

Oh my... I am so apprehensive about the identities; the numbers being alluded to make me feel so very pessimistic about the fate of the five televised POW.
The families and our troops really do need to be in our prayers. God Bless them... Dear Lord, hold them in the palm of Your hand.

I had heard, on a local talk show, they had one of the embeded reporters live (guy from Miami channel 4). He said word was, they had not only been executed, but GUTTED.. hopefully in that order..

The famous story of "Save one for Mainz" comes to mind. During WWII, an Allied B-17 crew bailed out over Meinz but were killed by the local German citizens. They were stoned to death.
From then on, Allied bombers would save one bomb from each bombing mission, return over Mainz and drop it on the city. In a few months, what was once a large German city became dust.
