POW Family Denies Daughter Shot, Stabbed
By ALLISON BARKER .c The Associated Press
PALESTINE, W.Va. (AP) - The father of rescued POW Army Pfc. Jessica Lynch said Thursday that she was in great spirits following her first surgery and denied reports she was shot and stabbed during her captivity in Iraq.
``We have heard and seen reports that she had multiple gunshot wounds and a knife stabbing. The doctor has not seen any of this,'' Gregory Lynch Sr. said.

This may sound odd but didn't the female POW from Gulf 1 also have two broken arms?

And yet that hasn't stopped many from granting her sainthood. It's a sign of emotional times. With the Pentagon doing their rope-a-dope, woe is us disinfo campaign, this has been the first real good news received. I don't care if she was grabbed frozen with fright or if she fought off a 100 Iraqis with a slingshot made out of her bra. All that matters is we got her back.
But again it's emotional. Some of the people will always get swept away in it. It doesn't make them bad people. But it's still a bit raw and new....that feeling will subside to reasonable levels soon.

I don't thing he/she has any idea what he/she's saying. On another thread there was a lot more of this nonsense. Rather than wait to see what news finally emerges about her ordeal, some folks are quick to dispute everything and to imply that PFC Lynch is less than honorable. It's a shame.
None of us knows the whole story yet, and I think we should stop speculating about all of this. People are dead; people are injured; people are still prisoners. Must we decide everything the moment we hear about it? Apparently some here feel they know the truth before they know anything much at all.

The next thing you know, they'll be denying the part about the UFO too. I doubt that would stop many from believing in UFOs or little green men either.

Reuters reported this: The military told the family Lynch had "walked into an Iraqi hospital" after going missing, but "we were told nothing else," relative Terri Edwards told Reuters. (Additional reporting by Jeff Franks)
CNN reported this: CNN reported she had suffered multiple gunshot wounds at some point during her ordeal that made it hard to move her.
Defense Link has no information reported at all on her condition. Just that she was recovered.

The initial reports had Pfc. Lynch with two broken arms and a broken leg. Later reports said she had one broken arm and two broken legs. A report today (I believe I saw it on a Fox crawl) added a herniated disk.

These stories that make the Iraqis look bad seem to be getting pulled. I wonder how much more footage of the torture chamber is going to be allowed to be shown. I bet NBC SeeBS has never shown it.

There is a report here on FR, that her brother said she had broken bones due to gunshot wounds (bullets shattered a few bones, possibly?) Maybe she was not shot. Her parents have not seen her yet. I guess we all have to wait to find out if the media has hyped up her story or not.

"The family has decided not to fly to Germany since Lynch was expected to be flown to the United States as soon as she is stabilized."
One wonders how much time she will have to spend at Walter Reed before release.

The back surgery could well be to repair a fractured vertebral body with fragments impinging the cord. Loss of feeling in the legs is ominous, and in cases of cord impingement, progressive. So the timing of surgery can be critical. That's why they would fix the back first and the extremities later.
If she has a fractured vertebral body in the thoracic or lumbar region it usually comes, in a young healthy person, from a fall from a height.
Discs rupture, they don't fracture. Though an acute ruptured disc can impinge the cord, too.

Do you think she SHOULD have been shot? Is that what you're saying? Or are you saying that an American soldier who survived over a week in an Iraqi hell hole while having her arms, legs, and back broken isn't enough to merit our sympathy and admiration? Not at all. In fact, she deserves the admiration of us all for simply surviving what many of us would have succumbed to.
What I'm saying is that when the original report from the Washington Post came out as to how she allegedly fought off her captors, killing some, until she ran out of ammo, many were hailing her as a "hero" and ready to pin the Congressional Medal of Honor on her before the facts surfaced.
She has been painted in a light different and far more brilliant from every other soldier who has died or has been injured simply because she is a woman.

Nor has it stopped others from trashing her. Why don't we wait and hear the whole story?I don't believe that I have "trashed" her once. My issue is with those who, without waiting for the truth to come out, have propagandized this much like our Iraqi foes have in creating larger than life figures of heroism.

"They have special uses for pretty blonde, blue-eyed young women. I doubt it's a coincidence that she's the only (confirmed) survivor of this attack. "
That was my first thought when I saw her picture.

And you know the Washington Post story is wrong exactly how? What if they are correct? Bottom line is: you don't know. None of us know. We should withhold judgment until we do know.

Yes, gunshot wounds might have been sustained in battle, but broken arm, legs, back sound much more ominoius. Thank God they got her out before she died. I'm really worried about the other rpisoners taken that day, including two other women, in fact.

And yet that hasn't stopped many from granting her sainthood. Boy, you sure are cold. I haven't heard of anyone granting her sainthood. She is a brave young woman. No one is putting her above any other POW. Many people are very grateful that she was rescued. Many will be just as grateful when we rescue more POW's and they will probably get just as much attention and rightfully so. Why don't you go take a nap and when you wake try getting up on the right side of the bed.

Nonsense. You flat out stated that she deserved nothing more than the Purple Heart in another thread. You have already decided that she is just an injured soldier without any information firsthand. I won't bother to link to your message, since many already have seen it.
To: A2J
I don't believe that I have "trashed" her once. And President Clinton didn't believe that he had had sexual relations with that woman, Monica Lewinsky, even once.
