Pfc. Jessica Lynch, rescued Tuesday from an Iraqi hospital, fought fiercely and shot several enemy soldiers after Iraqi forces ambushed the Army's 507th Ordnance Maintenance Company, firing her weapon until she ran out of ammunition, U.S. officials said yesterday.

I hope the psychologists that deal with this stuff in the armed forces are not the same as the Grief Industry snake-oil peddlers that came around here making cops and firemen feel worse after 9-11.

Who here is arguing that women should be front line infantry? None that I see. She was in supply, correct? I can see an argument that even that is too close to combat, but why the attempts to turn it into an all or nothing issue, unless you are arguing that there is NO role for women anywhere in the military. Which is a completely different argument from saying that they don't have the physical abilities to be in combat.
Do people read these threads before tossing out their pet issues?

"I think they found the bodies after they evacuated Jessica. This put a big damper on the party." Yup. That would put a damper on things.

I'd rather have a PFC Lynch watching my back than a 1000 of the so called "men" of the Iraqi Army. She's killed the enemy, been wounded by gunfire, survived being tortured, and according to her family, still wants to finish out her service. If we can call Michael Jordan a hero, certainly we can call this soldier one as well.

Damned impressive. Makes me proud to be an American reading stories like this.

she is NOT a hero She's out there taking bullets to protect my butt. That's HERO in my book.
The fact that she sent some Islamofacists to Allah is icing on the cake.

and I bet supply people dont have normal combat loadouts of ammo
They should, maybe this is a result of the Klinton ammo shortage. Klinton thought it would be a good idea to shut down the Lake City ammo production during his term (disaster) in office. Remember the stories about units not having 9mm training ammo?
To: Kevin Curry
Who here is arguing that? I've seen that claim thrown out a half dozen times on this thread by your side, yet no one has actually espoused this.
To: CyberAnt
Because she shot up all she had.

The ambushed soldiers were taken by suprise by the Iraqis and it was over quick so its hard to belive this story. Oh good grief. Yes, lets certainly not believe good news if it doesn't fit your agenda.

Pfc. Lynch is lying in a hospital with two broken legs, a broken arm, a gunshot wound, and odds are those are not the limit of her injuries. Tonight I heard on MSNBC or Fox between 9-10pm that "both legs broken, arm broken, and 2 GUNSHOTS TO LEGS" !!! Didn't anyone else hear this? My husband and I both did.

And midway through that hour delay ABC, the AP, and MSNBC ignored the military's request to hold the storyAnd why did the military even bring the announcement up? Stupid move on the military's part.
