[history]
ABU AL KHASIB, Iraq (CNN) -- A torture chamber equipped with hooks hanging from ceilings and an on-site electrocution room has been found in the basement of an Iraqi police station, an embedded reporter with the BBC reports.
The reporter said the British Royal Marines from Alpha Company 40 Commando entered the facility -- home to Saddam Hussein's dreaded internal security police -- looking for clues about local militia groups.

In reference to this article, please point out to me where Gitmo was refered to.

Don't worry about it.

"Next thing you know they're going to be telling us they found some sort of chemical or biological weapons or something."
I was talking to a liberal about the war today and she said "that we are really going to be up creek if we don't find some WMD soon"....I said, "no, by then we will be up Saddam's butt"....she dropped her jaw!

I know it doesn't reference Gotmo - another person mentioned it, in teh context of how well the detainees are treated in comparisn to how people are treated in Iraqi custody...
Anyway, my apologies if I offended anyone, too - Too many people lately sniping at each other, normally over petty insignificant things, and maybe I overreacted a bit - just wanted to nip it in the bud before 50 other people joine the thread and begin jumping on Tax Chick w/o real cause...
Peace?

She's not from Oklahoma, either. Okay, how could you tell? I'm really "from" Missouri, but I live in Oklahoma.
I'm from Oklahoma, the center of the universe," is a quote from Hoyt Axton. I've been using it since the "can't get the song out of your head" thread a few weeks ago.

"Is it safe?"
The Iraqi regime are a bunch of dirty bastards. But we knew that already.

I understood you Tax-chick. Some here must be speed readers and get a little confused....not your fault!
Chill people....

The article doesn't mention Gitmo, but a poster did, and another poster replied, and she addressed THAT poster. Guess she should have asked you big tough smart guys first. Cause' you don't play, no sir. Nobody better lecture YOU, that's for YOU to do. You're just all just full of yourselves, ain'tcha?
To: Chad Fairbanks
Peace.
I had read the original article before I read the sanitized CNN version. It was difficult to be frivilous or *anything* else after I read the BBC story. In fact, my stomach flipped a few times. It's easy to get touchy after the last 24 hours.

I and others have asked for weeks: "What will they say when we open the dungeons and the gulagi?"
Well, what will they say?

I think we are all on edge, especially now when 'mainstream' reporters refuse to report accurate news, such as torture. I'm sorry. It's been rough on all of us.

I've been to Oklahoma exactly once in my life. I'm a Cheesehead and darned proud of it.

I can relate man, - I've seen stuff in other parts of the world where, when I now read articles like that BBC one, I don't sleep so well afterwards, and it takes a few days to get over it - so, I can understand the 'touchy' thing... :0)

And the pope still sees this as okay? And the U.S. is engaged in an unjust war? God help us all. It's no wonder the pope felt compelled to apologize to the Jews because of their lack of concern for them when Hitler reigned. Now history repeats itself again. Being blind to evil and chastizing the U.S. for stopping these evil people.

Everything's cool with me; just a little misunderstanding. I should have quoted the post to which I replied.
Aren't we all on the same side here? ;-)
