An Iraqi man flashes the victory sign, right, as he approaches a checkpoint ... I thought that looked more like the peace sign than the victory sign. Isn't the victory sign shown by turning the hand around?
Either way its a cool picture in support of the cause but I am just curious

Thanks for the stats. I'm getting a touch nervous that this is going too smoothly (3-RG down) - there is still the threat of chemical weapons. Although the word 'elite' should be exclusive to our troops, these desert rats play dirtier than a Senator's black pantsuit. Someone on Fox quite early this morning speculated that we'd never even have to go in to Baghdad to win this war. I'm hoping that is the case.

I want proof, before I start celebrating. He could very easily be hiding somewhere.

The 'fifth column' press will just start carping about the rebuilding process about 2 minutes after victory. You're prolly right about that. Nary a cheer or word of celebration about the victory for either our forces or the Iraqi's will be heard from that side. They will want to quickly sweep us all along into the next dark difficult task that looms and keep the controversy mills churning.
I for one, don't think we should allow it. We should resist it vehemently. Maybe a Freeper emailing, telephoning campaign to insist that our victory and troops efforts get the recognition they so well deserve.
I'm not saying re-building isn't vital, it is. But it's important for the coalition to savor and honor victory too. Something the 5th column won't want to see happening at all.

If Iraaq opts out of OPEC,the cartel is kaput, because the lowest price becomes the benchmark.....also, don't forget that Pair based PNB-Paribas bank is the repository for $40 BILLION of Iraqi money being held under the UN food/oil/sanctions thingee.....we've got to get that back, ASAP

Campbell Brown on MSNBC whining that Bush hasn't answered questions in almost a week.

They took units from the Ham and Neb to shore up the Medina ......and those units are now destroyed.
So we are looking at maybe two full strength RG divisions left....maybe 3..

Problem is, most people's memories are about 3 weeks at best. The real question is whether people will remember this bias in the coming weeks and months, particularly in November 2004.

I wrote earlier that I think we'll see a palace coup in Badgad as son as our troops are close enough to support it...remember, we've been talking to a lot of senior Iraqi military...
To: retrokitten
Verrrry good. Perhaps we can get more pictures going on a different thread (I don't know how to do it) and then vote.

I'm having a very enjoyable discussion this morning with my niece and nephew -- all about the war and Bush.
I'm amazed at how attentive they've been. I've obviously had a good impact on them. :-)

3rd ID is around 30,000 troops including support and everything....
