While their reporting has a conservative angle that I find refreshing after the liberal tripe purveyed by CNN and MSNBC, they also have been probably the most egregious reporters of rumor-as-fact-later-debunked in national broadcasting since this conflict began. Like the rumors that we are losing, the men are starving, the game plan had to be junked, Rumsfeldt's theories are not in sync with the military leaders, the generals are not getting what they want due to politics, the US bombed the Iraqi markets, peace protestors are the nicest people, ......

Even the most die-hard affoxionados cannot help but smirk as Geraldo gets escorted out of Iraq courtesy of our troops. Geraldo reported this morning - a few times - from Iraq. As you have labeled me such in the sentence above, I am not smirking. And I wouldn't were he to be escorted out.

exactly... someone please email the Today Show, considering that just this morning Ms. Couric went off in her typical vile, abusive manner to accuse the United States Marines of cold-blooded murder.

You're right, but they were too far out front about possible "positive" things, versus the effort by the rest of the media to pounce on every bad story that turns out not to be what they thought it was and then refuse to correct it. Do you think, if this story turns out to be true, that Katie Couric will report it tomorrow? Do you think she will retract her statements and allusions from this morning?
I'd rather have Fox be wrong about scuds, than hear NBC et al. jump on the "we brutally killed innocent women and children" bandwagon.

What is DU?
To: Retrofire
But calling it "Faux" news makes you sound like a DU plant.
If it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck, and all that.
And in your last post, dripping with syrup, you were backpaddling so fast, and it had about as much sincerity, as Clinton's tears at Ron Brown's funeral.

Freakin Saddam and his henchmen! If I could kill him myself I would!Unfortunately, I think a cruise missle might have just beaten you to him!
To: Retrofire
"Hmmmm, well Faux has hardly been a paragon of journalistic integrity in this conflict."
Well, how about when Dan Rather said that the missile that hit the mall in Kuwait was one of ours?
I will ONLY watch Fox news. I am sick of the America bashing that goes on on the other networks.

Believing blatant lies from whatever source is....well, stupid. Sorry...

I was suggesting that reports of Geraldo being either asked to leave Iraq or being forced to leave seemed to be greeted largely by approval in this forum.
Was I mistaken?

Invariably, Dan Rather can be counted on to spin and speculate in the way he sees most damaging to this administration.
I doubt the missile statement would have been made had a democratic president been sitting.

Thanks. I went over for a look and I am still shaking my head in disgust.

He is still a joke and I have no idea why anyone would hire him except as a game show host perhaps?

You were only mistaken in making a blanket generalization of Fox-fans.
There is a lot of Geraldo bashing in this forum (e.g. Whore-aldo, Jerry Rivers, that "puerto-rican jew"), and it is tiring, honestly. Really, leave the name-calling to those who wield it like the only weapon they have anymore: liberals. True, he was a creep during OJ, and during Clinton. But I honestly believe, as other FReepers have stated in this forum, that he had an epiphany on 9-11 when he lost dozens of friends. If it is indeed true, he would not be the first to do a complete 180 from left to right. Look at David Horowitz. Perhaps he isn't bashed as Geraldo is because he isn't as dramatic, though he is no less passionate.
I have plenty of criticism for FNC. Greta needs to learn how to interview better, or perhaps interview people who know more about the topic than "I don't know." Shep gets too excitable, verging on the edge of a near-tabloid-hysteria. And I could go another couple of years never hearing Rita Cosby mention her "sources" again. I can't stand the weekend version of "Fox & Friends"; they're a transparent mock-up of Steve, E.D. & Brian. No chemistry at all. But I've never been a fan of mocking someone on personal levels. It's childish.

I'm wondering if the check points can be equipped with the automatic rising barricades (like the ones on Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the White House). That I think would have solved or reduced the problem.
To: Retrofire
Care to cite any specific examples to back up your accusations?
