They sang a song. It's not the same as having the courage to stand up and fight for what is right. The French sang songs as the Germans rolled in.

Thank God, wait'll I tell hubby. I told him Toronto wouldn't be a problem. It's those darn French Canadians. The Anglos are regretful they are not in there fighting with their mates.
We'll know we are really winning the big struggle if there isn't a French Canadian PM in Canada for a generation or two. Just like the Dems can kiss off the White House for a while (again!) here.
The only one who could save them now is Celine Dion, maybe she could go on Rush Limbaugh's show. He loves her to death, maybe Rush can save French Canada, but I doubt it.
Great news, thanks a million for posting this!

Okay, some more details...
After the top of the seventh when the field cleared out came Lincoln Alexander, formerly The Queen's Representative in the Province. He spoke briefly but was quite emphatic, moreso than I would have expected him to be from his political background, regarding the closeness and support we feel for America. Linc was and is politically well connected. I heard a hint of a direct stab at Chretien and the Libs if not in his voice and his face. Anyway, I digress...
He introduced a female singer, I don't recall who and I didn't recognise her, but she sang God Bless America absolutely beautifully and the crowd, a sell out at Sky Dome for the first time in recent memory (thanks, Roger!) responded with a great ovation.
Maybe, just maybe, we're beginning to find our voice. If so, it's about d*amned time.

Great post!

Linclon Alexander stated clearly the fact that we had many (about 2,000 actually) of our own troops in theater. That alone was a shot across the bow, as the government has done its' best to avoid reminding Canadians of this. Aggravating.

Rush isn't going to save French Canada and neither is anyone else. They're...well, French!

"That's what I keep saying - the Canadians are our best friends!"You got that right, so long as we're not in Quebec, but then again, that's a province in France.
Seriously, my fellow Americans, the rank and file of Canada is with us, regardless of poll numbers.

Wow, the baseball season has started, and we had a snowstorm in D.C. yesterday, and snow flurries again today.
To: aristeides
Actually, it snowed to some degree in Toronto today. Nothing that stayed, and the Sky Dome is closed for now, but yeah, the void is over.

Unfortunately, people make mistakes, and Canada's mistake was electing Cretien as Prime Minister. Most english speaking people up here thought that we would be supporting the US.
Of course, it could have been worse. We could've elected Clinton.

You can take your money to the bank with the Canadien citizens. I listened to CFRB Toronto for days after the 9/11 attack, and they were crying, shook up and teribly hurt. They gave blood, contributed millions of dollars to the survivors. They are no different then us only a border. God Bless America, and Long Live the Queen

The only one who could save them now is Celine Dion... If you get a minute, this culturally-impaired FReeper would appreciate the background of this comment. I see ads for her new CD playing on the cable networks, but I have no idea who she is.

"...but I have no idea who she is..."Chick singer from Montreal - beautiful voice - kinda skinny - did the sountrack for 'Titanic'.
I had to buy the soundtrack to it so-as to learn the music in order to record a song that 'doug from upland' wrote for his daughters' wedding a coupla years ago. Nice tunes - sucky movie - the boat sank............FRegards

It was only 85 here in Southern California today. Of course, I would gladly take a little snow if we could get rid of 5 million illegal aliens, most of Hollywood, and Grayout Davis.
