Prayer Thread for Lurking Freeper Texana (TEXOKIE's Sister)

Posted on 03/29/2003 6:48:59 PM PST by TEXOKIE

Thank you for coming by this prayer thread for my sister, Texana. She is a magnificent freeper, although she is in lurking status at this time.

Texana is a high school English teacher. She is NOT politically correct. She does not actually teach the Bible, but she recognizes it as the philosophical and referential basis for most of the American Literature which her juniors are studying.

The first day of class, she makes an announcement that this is her philosophy, and any who do not wish to partake of that particular approach are free to change into another class. But no changes after the first week!

My understanding is that this never happens...the kids stay.

On Monday, March 31st Texana will be undergoing cataract surgery in one of her eyes, she thinks the right eye. It is the kind of cataract which is underneath the lens, not on top of it, like normal people -- you can see she is like Rosie in being different! It's outpatient surgery. The recovery time is supposed to be three days with no complications. She says, "I don't know if I'll be able to see right away or if I'll be wearing a bandage or patch -- I'm hoping for a patch so I can be a Pirate!" (The school mascot is a Pirate.)

Thank you so much for joining me in my prayers for her successful surgery and quick recovery. She states that she really wants to have her eyes work well again because of all the term papers she wants to grade over the next several years!

Our Beloved Heavenly Father,

We place before you my sister Texana who will be having outpatient cataract surgery (we think on her right eye) on Monday, March 31st. Please overshadow her doctors, nurses and any health care professionals who have anything to do with her case.

We call for a routine surgery and no complications. Let Texana and her doctors and nurses all be relaxed and in a very positive, focused, and clear frame of mind approaching and during her surgery. Please help the doctors and nurses follow the sterile protocols perfectly so that there is the minimizing of the risk of infection and complications.

Father, this devoted teacher is in need of functioning eyes to do the grading of those mountains of papers she loves so much. Please intercede and let her eyes heal perfectly at a cellular level in order to accomplish this.

Thank you Father, for hearing our prayers for your servant. Bless her and her family and friends during this challenge. This which we call forth for Texana, we call forth for any and all who are in a similar situation, according to thy will. Amen.

Yeah, there is a freeper named TexanaRed whose home was washed away about a year ago in the flood that hit Kerrville and Ingram.
Many of us responded to her need with prayers and small money donations.
I think she took the "Red" part from her red hair, but I'm not sure.
The Texana part, of course, probably came from Lake Texana.

May God guide the surgeon's hands and heal with the power of His spirit.

I've just received an email from my sister and she wants me to let all of you know the following:

"Thank you so much -- I'm in tears right now. I just read the outpouring of love and prayers from people who do not even know me. It's truly amazing. Please thank them for me and let them know that their prayers were received into my heart, and I feel better already! "

Please add to hers my own thanks.

Let me add another success story to yours, jwalsh07, to reassure TEXOKIE and his sister.

Ultrasound is used to map the precise size and shape of the eye so the gunk can be removed and a made-exactly-to-fit piece inserted to replace it!
Amazing technology.

Mine were done in January and February of 1999; outpatient surgery, under an IV sedative. It was so weird to be awake and aware of what was happening - yet totally detached, even knowing what the surgeon was doing! Never felt a thing, and went home after the sedative wore off.

Granted, hers is in a more difficult spot and she'll be watched in the hospital afterward, but a good outcome is likely.
For that, indeed, I add my prayers for an easy, uneventful surgery and rapid recovery.

In my case, vision was actually improved, and the need for glasses eliminated except for reading smaller print - the "Over 40" malady that strikes most..:))
