Assad, The President of Syria said that the logical thing is to implement the mutual defence agreement. According to this agreement, it is natural that when an Arab country is invaded, all the Arab countries defend this invaded country.

The logical thing would be to stomp out Syria before it goes any further with defending Saddam.

After the Iraq campaign is over how about some carne Assada?
To: wepollock
Syria jumping into the mix will really complicate things.

Why is this sort of racism never criticized by the left
(or the media--same thing) in this country?

What is Syria's military like?
To: wepollock
The best thing that could be done IF one wants the wrath of Israel bestowed upon them.

As B41 might say to Assad, "It wouldn't be prudent at this juncture." The Israelis are waiting for any excuse to rid its border of the Syrian Baathists -- and perhaps Syria as well. If Syria moves, Israel's territory might expand dramatically.
However remote (and I hope very remote), it is the thought of Iranian intervention that makes my stomach churn.

Be careful, Assad, be VERY that your big mouth doesn't write checks your hummingbird ass can't cash.

What is Syria's military like? In 1982 Israel shot down 89 Syrian MIG's and only lost 1 F-16.
To: BunnySlippers
Like most Pan Arab Socialist militaries.

I think that one F-16 was lost due to mechanical failures.

Come get some, Syria. We'll kick your ass around the block for drill.

What is Syria's military like? What is that British military publication? Jane's or something like that? Anyway, I read an article by them about a year ago that said Israel could finish off Syria in about three weeks -- that, the article said, is why Hezbollah isn't firing all the rockets they have lined up like Roman Candles in Lebanon, because Israel said they would hold Syria responsible.

Assad is a bigger terrorist than Arafart is. Although Assad does have a large military, they have also lost every major conflict since 1948.
