NEAR NAJAF, Iraq (Reuters) - U.S. helicopters attacked units of Iraq's elite Republican Guard on Saturday, killing at least 50 Iraqi soldiers and destroying some 25 vehicles, a senior officer said.
"We fired 40 missiles and we had 40 hits. We had a confirmed kill of at least 25 vehicles including tanks, armored personnel carriers and trucks, and at least 50 dead," Major Hugh Cate told Reuters.

An attack from the west of Baghdad looks like a good idea to me.

US Helicopters kill 50 elite iraqi troops Since when have we started riding Iraqi troops around in our helicopters?? :-)
(/sarcasm)

The 3 Iraqi Divisions have been officially renamed:
The Soontomeetvirgins Division....rushing headlong into our forces
The Getmetheh*lloutofhere Division.... same as above, only of French origin
The Daschleclintonpelosi Division... true haters of the U.S., but approach our troops with a white flag and smiles
The Tedkennedyrobertbyrd Division.... on bridge protection detail, beating back escapees and throwing them into the water.

How can they tell there were 50 dead when they could only confirm 25 vehicles destroyed? They are assuming at least two Republican Guards per vehicle and discounting the possibility that either or both escaped. Unless they can actually show the bodies we have no proof. Way too low of a number killed. 25 confirmed vehicle kills? If we kill a personnel carrier, wouldn't it stand to reason there are many persons in them? Are the carriers empty? Tanks have 3-4 peeps in each. 40 missiles and 50 dead. Doesn't seem very efficent does it? We are not reporting the real number of Iraqi troop deaths for some reason. Massive disinformation going on here. I'm being a little facetious, but I'm not sure the embedded reporters even know where they really are. They report what the military says happened, and where. I suspect the reporters are unwittingly being used as another tool in GWB's master plan.

Are the carriers empty? You bet they are, after the first couple blow up and immolate their occupants. They're probably bailing out of the moving vehicles like teen age car thieves on COPS...

The Republican Guard is busy retreiving the dead bodies and strewing them around a nearby "nmarket place".

I'm not sure the embedded reporters even know where they really are. That's a GOOD thing... CNN, CBS, NBC or ABC can't be trusted, and FOX might make a dumb mistake!
