NYT idiots. Not Guerilla but rather terrorist tactics. One would think the NYT was smart enough to figure out the difference between the two.

It followed American military attacks on Ansar al-Islam, an extremist group allied with Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda organization. Notice how the liberal press just casually mentions this little fact after denying for the last year that there is any connection between Saddam and al Qaeda.

Frankly, I'm sure that this kind of activity was expected. That doesn't make it any nicer, of course, but its how these people work. It'll happen again, but our troops will be guarding against it.

"I don't know what motivated this guy to kill himself. To me this is not an act of war," said Capt. Valles. "It's terrorism -- a man in a civilian vehicle killing himself at a checkpoint."
And 5 U.S. soldiers. Terroism strikes again; and the P.C. leftist rag New York Times reports:
"Attack May Signal the Future Use of Guerilla Tactics"
And once again creates the delusion of the communist/totalitarian loving liberal left that these murderers are freedom fighters!

The Al Queda terrorist influence.
The military will have to tell locals that no travel is permitted at this time, or risk being blown off the road by 125mm fire. No exceptions will be allowed. This could save both american and Iraqi lives, and at the same time take out the Al Queda, which we know are now fighting with the Iraqis

Terrorists kill 5 Americans. Tommy boy Daschle loves it. He's salivating for a "quagmire" and a Democrap victory in 2004.

"Attack May Signal the Future Use of Guerilla Tactics"
Attack may signal the end of accepting surrenders. This and other actions (faking surrenders, executing POWs, etc) is going to get a hell of a lot more Iraqis killed than would otherwise die.
As an NCO, I would never order or permit my soldiers to commit war crimes. I would, however, make it clear in their minds that their safety and that of their troops depended on erring on the side of caution and that 1000 dead Iraqis was better than 1 dead GI.

Hopefully, our military commanders are meeting with Isralie security forces and learning proven strategies to deal with homicide bombers.

"Your commie has no regard for human life, not even his own. And for this reason, men, I want to impress upon you the need for extreme watchfulness. The enemy may come individually, or he may come in strength. He may even come in the uniform of our own troops. But however he comes, we must stop him. We must not allow him to gain entrance to this base...."
Strategic Air Command General Jack D. Ripper
(Sterling Hayden).
From the Movie, "Dr. Strangelove."
His foreboding words include three simple rules: (1) trust no one, despite his uniform or rank unless he is known personally, (2) anyone or anything that approaches within 200 yards of the perimeter of the base is to be fired upon, and (3) if in doubt, shoot first and ask questions afterwards.

The checkpoint near Najaf was part of the cordon that the Third Infantry has been enforcing around the holy city, where Ali, the spiritual leader Shiite Muslims is buried in a major shrine visited by pilgrims from around the world. Not a big problem. Just destroy any access to the road, the road and everything around it. F**k these folks let them walk thru the desert to their holy places.

I'm so fed up with the stinkin' press. I just hope our USA Troops will stop being made to fight a PC war. I'd say don't trust any Iraqi at this point. Reminds me of Viet Nam, young children rushing to our GI's wired with explosives.

Here is the worst part of the story. Young men and women who are not trained to hate, but to fight are being killed because they show some compassion for the poor and the helpless. It is good that media is seeing this as it is and we are able to have our knowledge reenforced by pictures of the truth.

CNN just reported that two Iraqis surrended to Americans in one of the Southern Cities and told them that thier mission was to be suicide bombers. But they've been hiding out for a week because they didn't want to die for Saddam.

IF this is true, and I am SURE it is, we MUST change tactics. I see many many more of our troops dying like this IF we don't. To hell with the media, to hell with world opinion.
