Woman Pulls Gun on Unarmed Assailant

A would-be robber got a little more than he bargained for after targeting the wrong motorist at a Warren intersection. Acting as if he had a handgun, the man tried to rob a 40-year-old woman. But he wound up on the wrong end of a pistol wielded by his intended victim.
The Warren woman told police she braked for a stop sign on Lorraine Boulevard at Dodge Avenue, when the man opened the driver's door of her 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass. With his hand in his right pocket, he pressed an object to her jaw that she believed was a gun.
The culprit ordered her to give him money -- but she had other thoughts.
Clutching $6 in one hand, she began struggling with him as he again demanded her money.
Determined not to become a robbery statistic, the woman reached with her other hand to the passenger seat for her 9 mm handgun, grabbed the pistol and pointed it at his face.
"If you're going to shoot me then do it, 'cause I'm definitely going to kill you," the brave resident replied, according to police reports.
The surprised assailant ran without getting a cent. He is described as a black male in his mid 20s, 6 feet tall, 165 pounds, wearing a blue skull cap and baggy blue jeans.
No shots were fired.
Shaken by the incident, the woman waited until Tuesday to report the March 19 holdup attempt. Reports state that she felt by the time she had regained her composure, she thought it was too late to file a complaint. The woman eventually approached two Warren patrolmen investigating a report of a stolen automobile on her block on Packard Avenue.
The Warren woman, whose name is not being published by The Macomb Daily, has a permit to carry a concealed weapon, police said. Attempts by the newspaper to reach her for comment were unsuccessful.
Detectives have not yet determined if the attempted holdup is related to an earlier similar incident. Police said a teen-age boy told a woman at Fast Track gasoline station on Van Dyke that he needed a ride to Lakeside mall in Sterling Heights. When she said no, he brandished a handgun, Detective Sgt. Scott Pavlik said.
The woman drove off, circled the area and called police after spotting the teen. Officers arrested him a short time later.

God bless her. Someday, we will be tracking these scumbags down BEFORE they have a chance to molest, rape, murder etc. And even Chris Rock knows what I'm talking about.

The rental car we have in Paris has special door locks: NONE! In order to meet the specification of certain EU countries, I'm not sure which, the doors cannot be locked while passengers are in the car. This is supposedly so that if there is an emergency, the emergency personnel will not be locked out of the car.
I hope that a few of the loony idiots who thought this up are dragged from their cars in the middle of the night. Of course, they probably have armed chauffeurs and don't have to worry about physical safety.

A well armed society is a polite society. R.A. Heinlen is great! Here's my favorite quote:
"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects."

"If you're going to shoot me then do it, 'cause I'm definitely going to kill you,"NOW, take notice, having a handgun is real female empowerment.

No shots fired. Holding a conversation with the scumbag! She may or may not have had training about how to use the gun but she certainly hasn't been told WHEN to use it.
Like a rape/attempted rape victim who won't ID the perp, she just sent this scumbag 2 blocks over to rob someone else when she could/should have sent him to hell.
Sorry, I'm glad she's safe but no applause from me.

The headline says unarmed, yet the perp was never caught, so there is no proof that he was unarmed.
Typical liberal crap -- Headline completely unsupported by the facts, or even the article itself.

It is so funny to hear so-called "progressives" who argue one minute that women should be in combat and do other dangerous jobs as well as or better than men, but when it comes to self-defense they suddenly backtrack and say enlightened things like, "it's not lady-like to fight back," "guns are just too COMPLICATED to operate, especially in a stressful situation and especially for women," "women are likely to be frightened and just give the gun to the attacker," "she was probably asking for it," "only 'bad' women have guns," "she should submit and do whatever the attacker says," "she could have just screamed and someone would have rescued her," and so on. The left wants women to be faithful clients of the welfare state--they don't want women to be really empowered.

Actually she two. The second was carrying a 9mm. .45ACP = 1 shot center mass and they don't get up. Most 9mm handguns have large capacity magazines for 1 reason. 9mm has minimal stopping power and will require more than 1 shot. Why else would law enforcement change to .40 caliber?

I grew up about 2 miles east of where this incident occured. As a kid growing up in the Detroit area, my parents were adamant that "nothing good ever goes on south of 8 Mile Road.." (meaning: in Detroit). As kids we were admonished never to go into the city, even though for us it was a mere 1/2 mile away. To be fair, the parts of Detroit that bordered on my neighborhood were actually pretty good areas where a lot of folks who were required to maintain Detroit residency (cops, firefighters, etc) lived.
This area of Warren, which is my home town, where this attempted robbery occured is another matter entirely. Its an older neighborhood, lot of (forgive the term) hillbillies and food stamps. Rap singer Eminem's neighborhood (where his Ebay auctioned house is located) is about 4-6 blocks from this location.
Interestingly, my parents always said "Nothing good goes on south of 8 Mile Road.." and were assidious about locking the car doors when we crossed into Detroit (even in the days before "carjacking" was a word), but as a child I found it more instructive that my mom would lock all the car doors without saying a word to us kids when we drove into this particular part of our own city.
