Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Fox - ANOTHER huge explosion hits Baghdad in the past few moments. One of several waves to hig Baghdad the past 8 hours.
To: snooker
well supposedly this "sucker" (LOL) missile is also Chinese. The report from Fox just a few minutes ago was from a reporter on site a the mall and he said coalition forces had identified the missile and then they said not a silkworm but this sucker thing.

Even if it was true, why in the hell would our people announce to Iraq, that our forces were going to camp in place pretty much for near a week.
Reporters are the world's greatest idiots.
To: nicmarlo
Yeah, I heard that. Makes me think that this was part of the original plan.

Yeah, a 4 to 6 day pause on the ground but look out for the air!!! 24/7 ??? hmmmmm.

With the harbor opened up in the south, it would be interesting to see just how many ships we have waiting to unload. They made a big deal about the humanitarian supplies, but I am sure the other ships were off limits to cameras. I have visions of tons of stuff being shipped to the front from the south.

Do you remember the layer of grease on the Ham & Lima Beans C-Rations. I still shutter thinking about it. And the smell....... Good grief!

Making someone scared doesn't win a war. Making someone scared may mean that you don't have to fight a war at all. You will note that I said that one purpose was to scare our other enemies.
I want Bashar Assad--just for example--to soil his trousers at the mention of the United States of America.

"Fox - CentCom not confirming the 4-6 day ground halt, yet. So far, only Reuters has independent confirmation on this. Everyone else is siteing them." "I love it when Rummy tells the press that they really don't know whatever it is they think they know."
Can I be the first to say it? OK, I will....
MAYBE Rummy knows that the Iraqi leaders (notice I didn't say Saddam) have no intel, and have been using the U.S. media for info, and...well, you get the idea..DISINFORMATION!
To: dogbyte12
FNC, the are not confirming "pause" , The air campaign will continue and the Pentagon won't confirm time.

I think it was all in the plan from day one. Talk up Chacanaw and then hit them with surgical strikes. Let them sit in Baghdad and make jokes about how little we got. Yeah....here's a thought:
Like you said, a set up from the start. How better to get your enemy to make mistakes than have them feel OVER CONFIDENT? And these people have nothing but that. It wouldn't take much for the US/Brits to sucker them into thinking they "can't even take enough food and water with them....what stupid infidels."
We did find ONE use for them rock hard fruit nut rolls. They came in handy as aircraft wheel chocks or an impromptu street hockey puck.
Then there was the John Wayne chocolate candy bar.

I was in the Army in the early-mid 80's when they first introduced MRE's. I was in the last class of trainees to actually eat C-rations. (for some sick reason, I actually LIKED them..) I'd like to try some of the new MRE's to see what the difference is.
(The one thing I rememebr about the first batch of MRE's was the Chicken ala King. That crapola coulda been used as a bioweapon.)
