Everywhere! | 29 Mar 2003 | An.American.Expatriate

Good Morning.

This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.

It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.

Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:

To all who helped this get started, thank you!

Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

I would rather eat at a bagdad cafe than eat another MRE again. But that is just me.

Heavy on the tabasco.

I'll take the beany weany menu. Thank you very much. SPAM makes me woozy.

There was a thread last night that depicted a bit of a dust up between Rummy and the military. Rummy wanted to push ahead with what we have in the theater but the military brass wanted to wait for reinforcements. Looks like the brass won and from my perch, it's the right thing to do. Despite the happy face put out by the Pentagon, I think all this dithering and fighting and defending in the South of Iraq has hit them by surprise. They need to regroup, bring in more guys, and then go for it. More power in numbers.

And those that were still in country have mostly been taken down on the ground. CentCom has shown video of Mig-25's being bombed near runways.

Since Clinton is now employed by CNN as a "political visionary" and forecaster, that makes Monica a the offcial seer-sucker.

I think you're absolutely right. We want our guys to be up for a huge celebration after they conquer the head of the snake. A few hours off can do wonders for them.

Now Akmed is cleaning the debris from last night's strike off the roof by the MSNBC Bag Cam. Now here's the kicker...the guy is wearing a bright red shirt, he looks like a target!

Or, as I heard one pundit put it...

Nope..not silkworm..they specifically said it was not a silkworm but a seersucker (sp?) and was similar to a silworm.

The beef stew isn't bad, or the chicken teriyaki. I'd stay away from the thai veggie though.

In all seriousness... today's MRE's are a LONG WAY better than previous C-rats. No question about that.

Even though this is a surprise, I'm not shocked, nor am I worried. If it's what they say it is, all the better. If it's a piece of dis-info...it may be interesting to see what's REALLY up thier sleeves.

I've been thinking along the same lines. At the very least, the press will be tripping over each other in their haste to spin this against the Coalition.

I don't believe it - Shep just said exactly the same thing!

So far there are 16 US soldiers missing.

Is that number unusual for just 9 days of war?

There was one soldier who got lost in a sand storm and was found the next day.
