***Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - Day 10 - LIVE THREAD***
Everywhere! | 29 Mar 2003 | An.American.Expatriate

Good Morning.

This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.

It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.

Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:

To all who helped this get started, thank you!

Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Dolpy: something doesn't seem right. Too much conflicting information about food, water and fuel

I agree, to some extent, dolphy.....I just posted (#78):

Maybe something's up? Maybe there's going to be a big bomb in Baghdad and the generals don't want our troops within 50 miles of it???? Or maybe tis true re short supplies....they did move very fast up...but that still seems odd to not have anticipated needs for adequate supplies and ability to keep up with troops.

MHGinTN said: We might just be pausing to rid the southern region of the Fedayeen infestation so the people can get needed food and water and medical help. But the presstoads will not report that, don'tcha know!

HOWEVER: Guest on FOX (retired general???) saying, "NOT TOO MANY WARS ARE FOUGHT IN ONE WEEK (or two weeks)."

does anyone see a problem with the delay?

I don't. Looks like terrorist harvesting is going great and Baghdad isn't going anywhere. Bomb bomb bomb 'em. Took 43 days in GW1.

They need to regroup, bring in more guys, and then go for it. More power in numbers.

Very true; guest on FOX with Shep just said (retired general??) "not too many wars are fought in one week."

I also think it is an opportunity to allow the RG to re-position. Let's hope they do...it will be their last.

Nope..not silkworm..they specifically said it was not a silkworm but a seersucker (sp?) and was similar to a silworm.

My mistake. Must be related to the british DoubleBreasted. :-)

Well, other than the 100 years war, which lasted about a week.

The kegger guys are not in view any more, which I might say, is VERY disturbing to a person like me who keeps beer on tap by the 50 liter half-barrel! (Every ten days, like clockwork.)

Fox - CentCom not confirming the 4-6 day ground halt, yet. So far, only Reuters has independent confirmation on this. Everyone else is siteing them.

I love it when Rummy tells the press that they really don't know whatever it is they think they know.

Fox - Adam Hously in Kuwait City reporting that the missile was a SeerSucker, not a Silkworm. They're similar. 11 Fetaheen fighters caught trying to sneak into Kuwait to blow up targets. They have confessed as much.

Very interesting....thanks for posting this info; I didn't know this.....when were they caught? Tonight? I've heard nothing about this.

It's unfortunate that this looks bad politically (remember, one purpose of this war was to scare the hell out of our other enemies, which we are not doing), but at least we have a military leadership which can change the plan when it isn't working as well as desired.

Alternatively, it may be a brilliant disinformation operation. I generally don't go in for the "it's all a cunning plan!" theories, but there are just some things about this which make me wonder.

I am not buying this, the pause might make sense, but I just don't see Rumsfeld spinning in that way given the last few days. I'll go with a cunning plan, or the real reason for the pause isn't being revealed.
