You think they suppress news all the time, I think they report rumors all the time and then when the real story comes out, people think they are being deceived. Breaking news stories are notoriously inaccurate.

CNBC reporting a Reuters wire saying that either local officials or the FBI saying that this isn't terrorism related (*).

It may turn out to be 'peace' demonstrators or 'performance artists.'

But I'll never forget that only a few minutes after the second plane hit the World Trade Center, it was announced on-air that the FBI was saying "this is NOT a terrorist incident." Astonishing.

Fox 5 backtracked on the "packages" report. All they are committing to now is that three men of middle-eastern descent were detained after suspicious activity on the bridge.

There have been specific threats to the Brooklyn Bridge in the past. Never heard of threats to the Williamsburg; but I should note that the neighborhood called Williamsburg, in Brooklyn that is adjacent to the Williamsburg Bridge, is heavily Orthodox Jewish.

There have been reports in the media in recent months that the 9/11 terrorists originally had planned to hit the neighborhood of Williamsburg, instead of the WTC, because the original goal had been to kill as many Jews as possible.

The earlier Arab immigrants were Lebanese Catholics fleeing persecution by muslims. In the last 25 years or so, Muslims, more than a few Wahabis, moved in("there goes the neighborhood"). They are located especially close to the feet of these bridges.

My thought on that report is that's a convenient cover story given by the three suspects. "We were just carrying liquor bottles in a brown paper bag..., Honest, Officer!"

Fox 5 local news is now going with the drunken prank story, too...as per NYPD!

There is 3 or 4 Subways that run over this bridge. And many buses. The FDR drive runs under the entrance on the Manhattan side.
Remember there were Three men involved. This is not someone who forgot his gym clothes on a bridge....Now its just some drunks that were having fun!
