Saddam's 'Mrs Anthrax' revealed
Evening Standard ^ | By Hugh Dougherty in Qatar

Posted on 03/28/2003 1:23:39 AM PST by Freedomsfriend

In a chilling signal to the Allies, the woman who runs Iraq's chemical warfare programme has been shown on TV at Saddam Hussein's war cabinet.

Scientist Huda Salih Mahdi Ammash, known as Mrs Anthrax to Western intelligence, was sitting next to Saddam Hussein's son Qusay. The pictures, broadcast by Iraqi television, send a clear message to the West and increase fears that the Iraqi dictator is on the brink of using his weapons of mass destruction.

The woman is the key figure behind Iraq's illegal weapons programme and helped rebuild his biological capibility after the Gulf war in 1991.

But the fact that she is one of Saddam's most trusted aides has shocked Allied military commanders. It comes after the discovery of chemical weapons suits issued to Iraqi soldiers in what could have been a possible preparation for chemical attack on US and British forces.

Any conclusive proof that Iraq possesses banned chemical or biological weapons would be a huge boost to America and Britain in the battle to win over world opinion in support of the war. There have been reports that Saddam has taken to his deep bomb-proof bunker as he prepares his soldiers for the battle for Baghdad which he hopes will see allied forces sucked into bitter street fighting.

The Iraqi capital saw one of the heaviest nights of bombing of the war so far last night, with telecommunication facilities targeted by US missiles.

But the advance of US and British troops appears to have stalled, with constant harassment by small groups of Iraqi irregulars.

The Pope's position is completely untenable and an outright betrayal of the will of God. Perhaps he has forgotten the many times in the Bible that God is depicted as raising up armies to destroy evil governments and regimes. The Old Testament is filled with example after example of God bringing down evil nations by waging war against them through another nation's armies. God sits on His throne and allows evil nations to flourish for periods of time which to us seem unbearable, but He operates on His own timetable and allows nations maximum time to change their ways and repent. But when repentance is not forthcoming, He pronounces judgment and delivers justice. And that justice is not delivered through supernatural means. It is delivered through human means on the human stage, by directing human armies against the offending nation.

I know you know this, nmh, but I reply to your post because so many who consider themselves followers of Christ do not understand this, and have been blinded to the truth of Scripture and the ways of God, whose ways are not our own. There is no doubt that the Pope refuses to see this truth himself, so he stands along with Hollywood, the peaceniks, the socialists, and the Axis of Weasels. Tragic, but that is the reality of our times, just as Jesus warned us it would be.

Please don't take this wrong. I do not mean to be disrespectful, but the Pope does not look so good lately. I am not sure that Pope John Paul even knows which month it is. I think that maybe his handlers express their views through him and pass them off as his.

ALERT...WASHINGTON TIMES.com: "ARMS SCIENTIST SAID TO HAVE FLED TO SYRIA" by Rowan Scarborough (ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Some of Iraq's top weapons scientists already have fled their country and are in Syria, from where they may seek political safety in France, administration sources said yesterday. The officials said among those believed to have made it to Syria are Huda Salih Mahdi Ammash and Rihab Taha, both top scientists in Iraq's biological-weapons program. The administration sources said there are intelligence reports that one, or both, made it to Damascus. Mrs. Taha is a British-trained microbiologist, who led Iraq's drive to cultivate and weaponize deadly anthrax. Nicknamed "Dr. Germ," she is believed to hold vast knowledge concerning all of ousted Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein's development of weapons of mass destruction. Mrs. Ammash has been nicknamed "Mrs. Anthrax" by Western reporters. She has been photographed at Saddam's Cabinet meetings, and at a meeting with his son, Qusai, who ran most of Iraq's military and security organizations. The two women are notable not only for their expertise in weaponizing germs, but also because they both attained senior positions among the male-dominated Ba'ath Party.")
