Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...
TOPICS: Breaking News; Foreign Affairs; Front Page News; War on Terror

remember that great scene in apocalypse now, when brando talks with martin sheen about his experiences in Vietnam, talking about the innoculated children: "horror and moral terror are either your friends, or are an enemy to be feared". this is exactly what we have right now.

You know, so many Freepers watch Fox News channel all evening and like to comment and critique it...why don't we have a "Fox News Channel Live" thread nightly? I think it would be pretty popular. (NO I don't want to be in charge of it!) : ) I would love to have one for the daytime news shows on FNC. (NO I don't want to be in charge of it!) ; )

Well that was short but sweet! Thank you!
Has there been any more info on the B&W shots of SH and his henchman & woman? I'm curious about the appearance of this "Hoda" or whatever- this female so called WMC scientist. Think they would be able to tell if this was "canned"?

A 2,000 lb bomb, can be called a 5 Nadler ordinance.A 5 standard Nadler = a 909.09 metric Nadler.
To: spectr17
LOL! Do the Brits still call them that? Because I could've sworn that's what they called them in Gulf War I.

Maybe a good idea on these threads to keep a running update that can be added to as the thread progresses with highlights only and time of occurrence. Maybe every 300 posts or so, or as warranted. Just a suggestion.

I think its about the boat that iraq intercepted loaded with explosives.
To: Spunky
"I was listening to NBC news and they said they think it hit an Iraqi amunition compound, therefore the loud explosion. ..Nonsense: Ammon dumps explode in long serious of small and medium explosions: how are the shells and explosives going to go off at once? At Khe Sanh, one ammo dump was hit, and it burned/exploded for hours afterwards. Same thing at an airport near (I think) Hue earlier, and also at Da Nang. See also the Israeli & Egyptian dumps going in the 73 war.
Any updates on the airborne insertion in northern Iraq?
To: pitinkie
I mean Iran!!!

I thought so!
When those bombs hit this afternoon, I thought, "Some Special Ops guys are having a good day".

The A10's official moniker is thunderbolt-2, in deference to the P-47 Thunderbolt(Best ground attack aircraft in WW2). The name Warthog is a name the crews gave the A10 because it's "less-than-sexy" looks.

Every now and then Alan Colmes manages to surprise me.

Guess which site this is from:
Thread: Did anyone see Peter Jennings at 6:30est?
Comments:
Not one positive note through out the entire half hour, he also seemed very somber.
Do you think Ted Koppel fears for his life at this point?
ABC is doing a rather good job reporting compared to the other whores, no?
..........
I don't think its only Baghdad -- I think after the ITN reporter get shot up by friendly fire, he might fear the troops around him. They are kids with high powered weapons afterall and I doubt he's getting much intellectual stimulus from them to make him feel differently.
(Are these people morons or what?)
