Not much different than this guy's excuse:
Jamal Isma'il also interviewed bin Laden in 1999. Here are several quotes from that interview:
Osama bin Laden on Islam:
"Every Muslim who sees discrimination begins to hate the Americans, the Jews, and Christians. This is part of our religion and faith. Since I become aware of things around me, I have been in a war, enmity, hatred against the Americans."
Osama bin Laden on the religious nature of the conflict:
"Let us say that there are two parties to the conflict: The first party is world Christianity, which is allied with Zionist Jewry and led by the United States, Britain, and Israel; while the second party is the Muslim world. In such a conflict, it is unacceptable to see the first party mount attacks, desecrate my lands and holy shrines, and plunder the Muslims' oil. When it is met by any resistance on the part of the Muslims, this party brands the Muslims as terrorists. This is stupidity. People's intelligence is being belittled. We believe that it is our religious duty to resist this occupation with all the power that we have and to punish it using the same means it is pursuing against us."

Sure, and the attitude that he, his parents, and his imam are expressing right now had nothing to do with it.

Well, the race card worked for O.J.
I suppose they're just trying to get lucky.
Jessie and Al must be on a plane by now.

a lot of people don't understand the religion of Islam Yeah, particularly the ones who say it's peaceful.

Muslim soldiers family blames racism for grendate attack...
Why yes, I tend to agree the young brute is certainly a racist and deserves a summary trial quickly followed by a date with the firing squad.

Brother Ismail recently obtained early discharge from the Air Force-wonder how recently, and did He obtain the discharge or did AF?

Not even a Johnny Cochran is going to help this "prophet" of "Minister" Farakaahn.
This sob is going to die by firing squad, and I can't wait.
BTW "Minister" Faralaan is an enemy of the US - I had the opportunity to subscribe to his vitriol of our Country, but decided not to...even though I am always curious as to what the enemy within is up to.

If he did this, he was driven." That's right...he was driven by the cult of islam.
I heard this morning that a second injured hero died as a result of this creature's "breakdown"
So, how come he hasn't been shot yet?

"Looks like whoever discriminated against him was 100% correct. Good discernment by his superiors. "
Except they didn't take action BEFORE the situation went south.

...that it was difficult for a black man "to make rank" in the military. Secretary of the Army Togo West comes to mind (saw him on Fox today.) Not to mention Colin Powell.

Here we have another shining example of ABC's "accuracy in media!" As you know, doug from upland, my fellow Californian, there are 58 counties in CA and NONE of them are known as "Merino County."
SW, you are correct, These morons should have reffered to Moreno Valley, where he lived most recently, but then attention to detail escapes these folks.
To: Michael2001
"Akbar was likely misunderstood."
We understood him very well when he shot a fellow soldier in the back.
As far as it being hard for a Black man to make rank, Chaplain Powell will punch his TS card on that one.

Thank you for pointing out the double standard. Blacks can't be racists!

Racism might have been the cause alright. His against anyone who is not a Muslim.

Muslim soldiers family blames racism for grendate attack Sounds very plausible. The Muslim soldier appears to have some very definite racist tendencies.

complained several years ago that it was difficult for a black man "to make rank" Maybe he should discuss this with Colin Powell.

He was a sergeant (E-5) after enlisting in 1998. What rank did he want?
I was an E-5 after four years of active duty in the Air Force. (That was after I got a Princeton B.A.) I remained an E-5 during two years of service in the Massachusetts Air National Guard. (That was after I had gotten a second B.A. at Oxford, and while I was a graduate student at Harvard.) I did quickly advance to E-6 after I transferred to the Naval Reserve, but that was because I had passed a written exam.
