My family has boycotted Levis. To ask me to give up my 5 or 6 cups/glasses a day of Lipton's tea is too much. Sorry.

Luzianne has a very good tea product. I use it to make sun tea and it's fine stuff. It's made by a N'awlins company, Reily Foods. I recommend the product.

As a matter of fact, I do not listen to The Ditzy chicks or any other country music groups. I'll leave that to inbred rednecks like yourself, Cleatus. As I type this, Correlli's Concerto Grosso Opus 6, no 4 is playing on my CD drive.

As for the screen name, yes it is French. I chose it during the dark days of the Clinton reign. The Sans-Culottes were the most radical opponents to the monarchy during the French Revolution. I chose it to show that I was in opposition to the reign of BJ Clinton and his fiendlike queen. I'm hardly surprised that an ignorant lout like yourself failed to notice that.

Note to all the other Chicks boycotters: I think Freepers overplayed their hand in this. Many foolishly let it be known that they were freepers when they started trolling the Chicks' site. Now I'm starting to read reports that the Chicks are blaming much of their misfortune on Free Republic. I don't think FR needed that kind of publicity. To me, it lessens the impact of the career-ending statement by Maines. To me, the beauty of this is that the Chicks did it to themselves. If their tailspin doesn't have enough momentum without your silly and ineffectual boycott of Lipton (with summer approaching, LOL), then it wasn't meant to be. Behaving in the same way as a bunch of queers trying to keep Dr Laura off TV is embarrasing.

Is there anything that we aren't supposed to be boycotting yet?

Real conservatives applaud people MAKING DECISIONS FOR THEMSELVES and not acting like sheep. If you want to boycott Unilever, I think that's great. If you do not want to boycott them, I think that is great too. So long as you aren't doing either because you afraid that you will no longer be liked by a bunch of screen names on a website.

That said, if you were to boycott everything listed on this site on any given day, you'd be living in a cardboard shack in the middle of nowhere, your only entertainment being a ham radio. There's probably a cardboard boycott going on too.

Typical liberal, blue-zone, city boy remark. Am I supposed to be impressed by your taste in music, poodle-boy? You can't expect to come on a conservative forum and knock those that boycott the treasonous liberal Ditzy Chicks without getting flamed. If you can't take the heat go back to DU with the rest of your socialist, Lipton tea-sipping, Levis-wearing, leftist butt-buddies.

Whats the matter Bella? You just can't live without your Ditzy Chicks CD collection. Or maybe your worried about your stock in Unilever? Your efforts to stifle conservative activism against treasonous liberals is wasted here at Freerepublic.

No, I do not listen to the Dixie Chicks, nor have a I ever. I tend to make decisions for myself, I generally do not base my choices in life over what people on FR say to do.

Some of us are actually actively involved in pro-USA rallys. That's being actively involved, as opposed to being pissy because someone won't join you in your boycott.

And BTW, being conservative is A LOT more than a boycott.

Reply received today from Lipton:

Dear Consumer,

Thank you for your recent note regarding remarks made by Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks. It is important for us to hear from our consumers and listen to their concerns.

As you can imagine, we did not expect a political controversy to arise when Lipton became a sponsor of the Dixie Chicks upcoming "Top of the World" concert tour. In this time of national crisis, we believe it is important for Americans to come together behind the values of freedom, democracy and tolerance that have made the United States of America into the country it is today.

We have every reason to believe the Dixie Chicks sincerely regret the distress Ms. Maine's comment has caused. In a subsequent statement, she said, "As a concerned American citizen, I apologize to President Bush because my remark was disrespectful. I feel that whoever holds that office should be treated with the utmost respect. We are currently in Europe and witnessing a huge anti-American sentiment as a result of the perceived rush to war. While war may remain a viable option, as a mother, I just want to see every possible alternative exhausted before children and American soldiers' lives are lost. I love my country. I am a proud American."

The Dixie Chicks have in the past shown their love of America in very public ways, such as by singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl in January, for an audience of 930 million people worldwide. The strong bond they have forged with the public - country and popular music fans alike - is reflected in part by the People's Choice award they won for "Favorite Musical Group," and the fact that their upcoming tour sold out in record time. The band's popularity and success were further recognized when the Recording Academy awarded the Dixie Chicks four Grammy Awards.

While we respect the right to free speech for all Americans, we believe it is important for artists such as the Dixie Chicks to recognize the impact their points of view can have on their fans, especially in these uncertain times.

We value your comments, and equally, the constructive spirit in which they were offered. Thanks again for your time and for allowing us to clarify the situation. We'll be certain to share your thoughts with the Dixie Chicks.

Sincerely,

Linnea Johnson
Director, Consumer Services

I think Belly Girl is still OK with MOST conservatives.

Thanks. How does Lipton rationalize the response of the Ditzy Twits' manager, which in essence said that they weren't really sorry?

There are so many better tasting teas out there- at least try them. Stash and Safeway Select are both great brands.

My reply to Lipton:

Dear Lipton:

Thank You for responding to my email regarding the Anti-Bush statments made by your public sponsor, Natalie Maines. I would like to comment on several of your statements:

>> We have every reason to believe the Dixie Chicks sincerely regret the distress Ms. Maine's comment has caused.

>>>> I believe that the only regret that they have is the distress this is causing to their careers, which is over.

>> The Dixie Chicks have in the past shown their love of America in very public ways, such as by singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl.

>>>> Sing a patriotic song that greatly enhanced their careers in the past does not mean that they ever loved America. This is very obvious. The other statements about awards and a strong bond with America were totally wiped clean off the slate by the stated hateful remarks that were made on foreign soil.

In closing, if you think that the smart thing for Lipton to do is to continue with your plans to associate yourself with these now-notorious America haters on their American tour, you are making a huge mistake.

They are anti-Americans, who bring aid and comfort to our enemies to curry short-term favor with other America-haters. They demeaned our President on the eve of foreign War, in order to ingratiate themselves with foreign opinion, and they have not apologized. You know that they haven't apologized. How could she apologize for her true thoughts?

Natalie Maines said what she meant to say, her apology is a non-apology, she really feels that way. Her C&W will not be returning to buy her albums or tickets. If you support them, I suspect they won't buy your tea either. Because, tea-drinking America is solidly behind President Bush. And we are not ashamed of him. We are achamed of the Dixie Chicks however, and those who sponsor them.

Sincerely,
Rob xxxxx
