12:06 AM | NYT will report captives were executed
CNN - aaron brown is saying the NYT tomorrow will have a report that some of the POWs were summarily executed, probably publicly.
"When this word gets out, it's hard to control the troops." Gen. Wesley Clark.
Brown said the story will change things. "People will be outraged."

I thought at first that perhaps the bodies on the tape were not Americans at all--just executed Iraqis posed to look like dead GIs.
To: Poincare
That's ridiculous. Something like 95% of American men are circumcised, Jews and Gentiles alike.
To: Starrgaizr
You call lefties "fence sitters?" Very strange indeed.

I can't help but think when the Nazis executed the US POWs at Malmedy and the effect it had on galvanizing the Allies during The Battle of the Bulge.

Notice the Times ignores the TV images and cautions that the executions are attributed to a single source.

Sorry, I misunderstood your statement. But I stand by what I said. I'm not saying what side of the fence people will jump on. Some will jump on the lefties' side, but more, I suspect, will be firmly behind the war effort and out for revenge.

I learned a long time ago when a person is a true ideologue they will not believe the truth no matter what evidence you present. We could show videos of our troops being executed and they will say they are doctored. I heard a stupid antiwar idiot say the other day, "If they find chemical weapons, we will have planted them.".
Witness the mess with Clinton. They made excuses for him no matter what evidence was presented to them, and would rather believe a good man like Ken Starr was in the wrong.
The day they are face to face with a terrorist about to kill them is about the first moment they will believe these people can be evil.

General Robert E. Lee wrote:
Knowing that intercessory prayer is our mightiest weapon and the supreme
call for all Christians today, I pleadingly urge our people everywhere to pray.
Believing that prayer is the greatest contribution that our people can make in this
critical hour, I humbly urge that we take time to pray - to really pray.
Let there be prayer at sunup, at noonday, at sundown, at midnight - all
through the day. Let us pray for our children, our youth, our aged, our pastors, our
homes. Let us pray for our churches.
Let us pray for ourselves, that we may not lose the word "concern" out of
our Christian vocabulary. Let us pray for our nation. Let us pray for those who
have never known Jesus Christ and redeeming love, for moral forces everywhere,
for our national leaders. Let prayer be our passion. Let prayer be our
practice.

You mean the NYT finally figured that out? They are still denying it. See post #45 and read the whole article in post #28.

What I see happening is that it is finally being dragged out of some who have a shred of integrity left that the moral equivalency game is over now and facts are going to have to be faced. One of the most difficult of these, for the Times at least, is that Saddam's people really are what they are said to be; that they certainly won't blanch at a summary execution of U.S. troops since they've been doing worse to their own people for the last generation. These people such as the Times editors are being scooped out of their comfortable partisan shell and they don't like it.
For others in the "peace" movement the courage necessary to face the facts that fly in contravention to dearly-held theories about war and international relations is simply not there. These will deny to the bitter end. It is a very small compliment indeed - they should have known better long ago - but it is at least something the the Times should consider the brutal murder of U.S. servicemen and women to be on a par in importance with their own political world fantasies.

fair enough. my thinking is that anyone claiming to be a fence sitter is dishonest at this point. it is like Hilary Clinton trying to thread the needle, being for/against this war. those claiming to be fence sitters still are mostly frightened liberals. (Of course, there are some conservatives against the war, too.)
your main point stands -- decent people will steel themselves further for victory
To: EaglesUpForever
All people that were paying any attention already ARE outraged. Idiots who stand in the way of the US after this should be shown no mercy. I know this is killing me. There, but for the grace of God, go mine. I felt the same rage/sickness/grief/horror/more rage when I saw the Somilia footage. Hell, this makes me want to join and rip 'em up. My friend's husband is leaving in a few days to join the fray and she is really scared.
Dear God, please protect the POW's still alive and comfort the families of those who are lost.
I'm just horrified at what may be happening to our women.

That's ridiculous. Something like 95% of American men are circumcised, Jews and Gentiles alike. Do you think those Iraqis know that? The Nazis didn't know that many Christian Americans practised circumcision for what were believed to be health reasons during WWII. I think the question should be asked to the surviving POWs. Is that rediculous?

This story about the Gestapo executing the circumcised ones is chilling, but it fits.
I wondered when I saw the video about the pants being unzipped. Even the wounded guy who is interviewed has his pants unzipped. It was like, what the h*ll is that nonsense all about.
Now it makes sense.
In the long run, whatever finishes the job relatively quickly, will save the most lives, if this is what we are dealing with.

PORTERVILLE WROTE: "Makes you want to eat Republican Guard flesh raw....I mean that."
I wouldn't want to EAT their flesh, but cutting their skin open to get a grip, then ripping it off their bodies might do the trick. Or lowering them feet first into a plastics shredder (like Saddam's son did to people while forcing others to watch) would certainly suffice.
This just appeared at
The Agonist.
The responsible party for the executions was the Fedayin--particularly their death squad detachment, who are hooded. Uday's is responsible.

Actually the reason the pants were unzipped is likely much worse.
